Measuring our performance
Target: To deliver a high-quality multimedia news service in Arabic for and about the Middle East, including a 24-hour television service.
• ´óÏó´«Ã½ World Service television in Arabic to reach at least seven million weekly viewers, as part of an overall ´óÏó´«Ã½ multimedia reach in Arabic of over 18 million weekly users.
Initial results from surveys carried out shortly after the launch demonstrated a surge of enthusiasm for the service, and peaked at over 12 million viewers.
While this has settled down to eight million, levels remain higher than originally predicted.
The overall weekly reach is over 18 million users of radio, television and online services; further surveys are currently being undertaken following the expansion of the service to a 24-hour operation.
