A propos ed anti -gay law in Uganda has caused an international outcry and left many gay people in the country afraid to speak out in protest.

The proposed law says that homosexual people could be sentenced to death if they are HIV positive and engag e in sexual activity. MPs in Uganda say the bill seeks to "protect the traditional family." But if the law is passed , then parents would be duty bound to inform on their children if they suspect that they are gay. Whilst many gay people in Uganda are afraid to voice their opinions , o ne person who has decided to take the risk is Julian Pepe. She is an openly gay woman who campaigns for the rights of sexual minorities in her country . Matthew Bannister got in touch with Julian and asked her to describe what it's like as a gay person living in Uganda at the moment. And Matthew also spoke to the ´óÏó´«Ã½'s reporter in Kampala, Joshua Mmali, to find out more about the story. Gay Fear in Uganda
