According to government figures there is almost one suicide a week in Greenland, and one in five people there have tried to kill themselves.
Most of those who commit suicide are boys between the ages of 15 and 19 years old.
It is such a big problem that the government employs suicide consultants to show teenagers films to discourage them from taking their own lives.
Someone else who is trying to tackle the issue is Christian K Elsner - the lead singer in Greenland's most popular band, Nanook.
Christian lost two friends to suicide who were both devastated by breaking up with their girlfriends; and he is now trying to spread a positive message to encourage teenagers to value their lives.
He spoke to Outlook's Matthew Bannister from the capital of Greenland, Nuuk, and described the effect of losing two close friends.
