Julian Plummer

Julian Plummer is Assistant Principal Horn with the Halle Orchestra and has been playing professionally for over twenty years, performing orchestral, chamber and solo work worldwide.

He studied at the Royal Northern College of Music, under the tutelage of Mike Purton and David Cripps, both former principal horns with the Halle Orchestra. Prior to college Julian was a member of the National Youth Orchestra, working with Sir Simon Rattle, and a former Brass finalist in the 1986 ´óÏó´«Ã½ Young Musician of the Year. Whilst studying at the RNCM, he was invited to join the European Youth Orchestra, performing concerts with Zubin Mehta and Bernhard Haitink, and also performed solo works abroad.

Julian is a founder member of Halle Brass, a quintet with whom he has recorded and toured extensively throughout Europe and the U.S.A. He is also an active member of the Halle Education Department, directing many school based projects around the U.K. and Indonesia. Julian currently holds the position of Professor of Horn at the RNCM.
