Lucy Parham
Acknowledged as one of Britain's finest pianists, Lucy Parham first came to public attention when she won the Keyboard Category of the 1984 ´óÏó´«Ã½ Young Musician of the Year. Since then, she has played throughout the UK with most of the major British orchestras. She toured with the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Concert Orchestra on their 50th anniversary, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Russian State Symphony, Sofia Philharmonic, Polish National Radio SO and L'Orchestre National de Lille.
She has made numerous recordings including Rhapsody in Blue (EMI Gold) and concertos by Ravel, Fauré and Franck (RPO records). Her CD of Clara and Robert Schumann Concertos (´óÏó´«Ã½ CO/Sanctuary) won the ´óÏó´«Ã½ Music Magazine "Critics' Choice of the Year".
Her passion for the music of Schumann inspired the original concept of Beloved Clara and the 150th anniversary Schumann Festival held in London of which she was the Director. Actors who have appeared in Beloved Clara include Martin Jarvis, Joanna David, Edward Fox, Charles Dance and Timothy West. The CD of Beloved Clara (ASV) was recently released to critical acclaim. Her latest project, Liszt - An Odyssey of Love will be premiere in the London Pianoforte Series in February 2008 at the Wigmore Hall.
Lucy Parham has been a frequent guest presenter for ´óÏó´«Ã½ Radio 3 on programmes including CD Review, Building a Library and Composer of the Week. In 2006 she was the commentator for the Leeds International Piano Competition on ´óÏó´«Ã½ TV.
