The Burton Hoard

Contributed by National Museum Cardiff

The Burton hoard is a group of important Bronze Age gold objects including rigs, bracelets and belts spectacular in its range of middle Bronze Age artefacts. The Burton hoard contains pieces that are unparalleled anywhere else in the UK, including a bracelet with strands of twisted gold and a pendant consisting of a gold bi-conical bead. The quality and type of the jewellery is amazing and suggests a connection with the continent. The objects were buried together inside a pot and dates to the period 1300-1150 BC.
