The largest work by Hoare on public display in Bath,
originally produced as the Altar Piece for the Octagon
Chapel in Milsom Street when it opened in 1768. When
the chapel closed in 1896, it was purchased at the
disposal auction by Charles Radway, then owner of the
Pump Room Hotel in Stall Street and member of Royal
Cumberland Lodge, for presention by him to the Bath
Masonic Hall, where it still hangs today.
