This toffee tin belonged to my mother and may have belonged to her mother before her. She kept all her wee bits and bobs in it - mainly needlework things. You can see the lovely old scissors that still live in the box and an instrument which remains a mystery to me - it was obviously used for making clothes. Back in those days my father made all of our shoes and my mother made all of our clothes, often out of scrap material. The tin was made in Maidstone in Kent and hints of foreign lands with its parrot picture.

does anybody know what the object on the right is for? Is it a seam cutter?
