This is a voting paper printed in the South African newspaper "The Cape Times" on Wednesday 20th April 1994 in the run up to the first democratic elections held between 26th & 28th April of that year. It was the first time that the majority of the citizens of South Africa had the right to vote. Nelson Mandela led his ANC party to a resounding victory, and became the first black president of South Africa ahead of 17 other conterders. As part of the "collection" I have numerous other newspaper articles from between 18th April and 15th May covering comment, political positioning, results of voting by region, and post election celebrations etc. from various newspapers of the day.
