Like many young people in 1969 the historic American moon landing is a key memory. Looking up at the moon that night and imagining the astronauts up there is something I shall never forget. Such was my enthusiasm that I even took photographs of the television pictures as events unfolded before us. Afterwards I decided to put pen to paper and wrote a letter to the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong. Imagine my surprise then when the great man wrote back, in person. The picture, above, shows the letter I received back in 1969. It's a cherished momento. Neil Armstrong is now a famously private man and I feel honoured he took the time to write to a young man in Northern Ireland.
