All older Londoners will be familiar with this ticket machine - used on all London Transport Buses between 1953 and 1993 when they were replaced with electronic versions. It was designed internally for London Transport by George Gibson in their ticket machine works. The Gibson made a familiar noise when it dispensed tickets and legitimised one's journey throughout the capital - A noise sadly missed as its reliability traversed several new technology thresholds.

This machine brings back such memories. What a joy when the roll of paper was changed by the Clippie and one got to play with the surplus strip - such simple pleasures!
Man Alive! What mwemories. My dad was a conductor on the 35 bus that went through our own Camberwell Green. These ticket machines were a thing of beauty. Thanks for sharing.
