This genuine tiger's tooth was given to my mother by a Buddhist Monk in Sri Lanka. It seems its origin is from a monastery in northern India, although much of Sri Lanka's history is from southern India.
The tiger is very symbolic to both the Hindu and Bhuddist religions.
In Hindu mythology the tiger has a place where it overpowers revenge and anger.
Buddhism regarded the tiger as being majestic, powerful, dignified and having wisdom. The tiger's skin would be used as a prayer mat in tantric meditation. Only leopards and lions are found in Sri Lanka but there are often reports of tigers having been seen. Buddhism teaches that all nature is re-born.
