Patricia Waterman brought in a needlecase that was made by her maternal grand-father, a quaker, who refused to go to war and so was imprisoned as a conscientious objector. James Benjamin Harding, born in 1879, had previously been the caretaker of William Penn's house 'Jordans' and at Doultons of Lambeth Pottery. He made the needlecase during his incarceration at Wandsworth Jail in London in 1918.
