This egg cup conveys the patriotism in Britain in 1917. It reads "Made by the girls of Staffordshire during the winter of 1917 while the boys were in the trenches fighting for liberty and civilisation." A quote by David Lloyd George reads: "Dedicated to the patriotic fowl and I have no hesitation in saying that the economy in the consumption and use of food in this country is a matter of the greatest possible importance to the empire at the present time."
