It is the only surviving example of this kind of heavy scots plough. It was commonly pulled by 8 oxen and handled by 2 men because of the condition of the ground in the area. It created very distinctive rig and furrow field systems, which can occasionally be seen from aerial photographs. Seeing this large, heavy object just makes you realise what time and effort must have been involved to plough a field in comparison to todays air-conditioned and power steered tractors.
