After the Second World War, Malvern's Radar Research Establishment (RRE and later RSRE) pioneered many new technologies including microwaves and thermal imaging. This early example of an infrared machine was quickly recognised as having many civil applications and today CCTV is widely used in most towns, roads and airports.
Today QinetiQ continues this scientific research in Malvern and is a leading company in developing systems that enable advanced surveillance and security worldwide
