A silver cradle set with semi precious stones.
This cradle was given to Sir Stafford and Lady Howard of Llanelli when their daughter Margaret was born. The cradle was designed by T. Vaughan Milligan, who had been head of the Llanelly School of Art. It was made in Llanelli. The money to pay for this gift came from the public. Money was sent by Llanelli people working abroad as well as at home. Some came from as far afield as Russia, Germany, France and Italy.
The cradle is too small for a baby but was meant as a decoration. Sir Stafford and Lady Howard also gave Parc Howard to the public as a museum and the cradle became one of the museum's earliest exhibits.
