This is parts from a wreckage of a German bomber, namely the Dornier 217E. Other parts of the bomber are held at Kirkletham museum.
The bomber had attacked the Empire Princess in dock at Teesbay and the Skinningrove Steelworks and was enroute to Middlesbrough when its wing was torn off by a barrage baloon.
Ian McPherson found these parts of the wreckage near the railway in Southbank, Middlesbrough.
