These circular reading glasses would have been held on the nose with the pince-nez mechanism when in use and then hung from the gold chain when not. The solid loop would have fitted around the ear to keep the eye glasses steady. They belonged to the contributor's grandmother and were rediscovered when clearing her Dromore house in 1948 following her death.
