The engine was built in 1996 in Reading. It powers a threshing machine which was also built in Reading in 1992. It took more than three years to build and the man who made it was so exasperated he almost gave up. However his postman said he would use it to plant flowers and this was enough of an incentive to make him finish the machine. in 2007 it was bought at the Dorset Steam Fair as a present for Charlie from his wife. she knew how much he liked it. The Hay baler comes from North Humberside and makes mini bales. Charlie says it is just the right size for children to understand how it works. Looking at his machines means people can see how much the history of farming has changed.
