Brass drum orrery made by George Adams in c. 1789. The orrery is a model of the solar system showing planetary motion; orrerys were used from the 17th century as demonstration models and became collector's items. This particular example is important because it includes the sun and the seven planets of the solar system known at the time and most significantly the planet Uranus and two of its moons discovered in Bath by Herschel in 1781.
