Nowadays tractors are fitted with heated cabs and air conditioning. However 60 years ago comfort wasn't considered. Farming needed strength and wasn't for the faint hearted. This tractor with no cover to the weather, was sold new to Ian Mitchell's father's uncle. It was bought from Sanders who were dealers in Plymtree, Cullompton, Devon in 1955. Driving it then would have been very hard work as it doesn't have power steering or four wheel drive. As tractors changed and became more powerful people's desire for an easier life grew. Ian's uncle bought a stronger model, the Massey Ferguson 35 and eventually this tractor became redundant and ended up under a hedge. Ian has restored it to it's former glory. He says it could still do the work but Health and Safety won't allow anyone to do haymaking without a cab because of the dust.
