A 1938 John McGlashan of Glasgow pewter quarter gill measuring pot with GR34, 38 & 50 stamps. The pot is Imperial measure, and such measures were used in pubs and were later replace by the now commonly used glass/plastic optics. The stamp GR34 is a capacity verification mark applied by a weights and measures inspector in the reign of King George VI. 34 is the inspection district of Glasgow. The 38 is the first date of verification, being 1938 and 50 being a subsequent date on which the capacity was checked. Property of Robert Pool
