These mugs were made to commemorate 'The Great Grenadier' - Pool Field Davies. He was supposed to have been a hero at Inkerman, but was later found guilty of writing fictitious reports about the battle. He was found out, these mugs were withdrawn, and reissued with Sargeant Thomas on them. Great great grandfather was Pool Field Davies, born in Inkberrow, Worcestershire in 1820.
