Found in our garden which is on a hill overlooking Old Stevenage/Great North Road half a mile from Six Hills burial mounds which are Romano-British.
According to local information there were several small settlements in the Stevenage area. The one where we live may have been residential or a farmstead.
We assume it is Roman having seen a similar object described as such in a museum.
It's one thing to be told that there were settlers in this area so long ago but to find an object suggesting that someone may have lived and worked on the same piece of land where we now live brings it all to life.
