The Short S.25 Sunderland was a British flying boat patrol bomber, developed for the RAF by Short Brothers in Belfast. It was one of the most powerful and widely used flying boats during the Second World War and was involved in countering the threat posed by German U-boats in the Battle of the Atlantic. This is a co-pilot's control wheel from the Sunderland - a set of two of these would have sat in the cock-pit. Sunderlands flew out of Castle Archdale near Enniskillen during World War Two and the squadrons that were based there lost a lot of aircraft and crews during that time.
