Made in Smethwick, West Midlands, this brooch is an Edwardian attempt to recreate the style of Chinese glazes as art pottery. My grandmother was a dressmaker who received this brooch as a gift from a niece of Anthony Hope-Hawkings, author of A Prisoner of Zenda.
