This elaborate stick was hand made by Paul Mitchell from Melksham in Wiltshire to an original design. It is designed to complement the modern day barge owner's sartorial elegance. The square end represents the tiller; the flower decorations the canal bank; the Romany castle conjures up a vision of palacial space in contrast tot he confines of the barge; and the cheesed down rope on the knob of the stick reflects the tidiness of Her Majesty's ships.
