This clock made by Samuel Jones was made in Bath in the mid 18th century and is inscribed on the face 'Sam.' Jones Bath'. It is a rare cartel clock and was designed to imitate French Ormolu but in fact is made of carved and gilded wood. It is of an asymmetrical design, a typical rococo device, designed to 'fool the eye' into thinking the design is even.
