This simple little tool is really useful when sowing seeds into pots or modules. The pointed end makes a neat hole of whatever depth you need for the size of seed, while the broad, rounded end is ideal for gently firming the compost after sowing. It is made from turned softwood and is a pleasing object to handle, balancing nicely in the fingers.
The dibber belonged to my mother. She was a skilled gardener who passed on much of her enthusiasm and a little of her skill to me. I like the sense of continuity that comes from using such a personal object. It seems to fit with the cyclical nature of gardening.
Human progress is made possible by our ability to pass on knowledge and experience - it's also what GQT is all about.

A complete waste of time; you have 5 "dibbers" on each hand, which dont hide in the greenhouse and are'nt lost on the allotment!
