The Beatles
The Beatles were a highly successful rock band during the 1960s. They transformed popular music as a creative and highly commercial art form over the next decade. The Beatles were one of the most popular bands of all time and played a key role in the development of British rock and pop music. The four members of The Beatles were John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr.
When on tour they were greeted by thousands of screaming fans. This reaction became known as 鈥楤eatlemania鈥. The band was extremely popular in America. The success of British bands in America was known as the 鈥楤ritish Invasion'.
The album Sgt. Pepper鈥檚 Lonely Hearts Club Band was recorded in Abbey Road Studios and released in 1967. It was recorded using a Studer J37 4-track machine. The recorder enabled four separate tracks to be mixed and bounced onto a single track. This process of reduction mixing provided the sound engineers with a virtual multi-track recording studio.
