Performing and composing ideas
Some of the techniques found in The Cave can be transferred to other performances and composing. By understanding the effects of each may develop musicianship skills. They are displayed in the table.

Structure | Ensure that the different sections of the music are contrasting by adhering to the composer鈥檚 directions in the score. Make sure you pay attention to the mood and message being conveyed through the music. | Compose a piece which follows a verse-chorus structure. Add contrast between the sections by modulating, changing the rhythm or timbre. Try adding an instrumental section as a bridging passage. |
Modulation | Make sure to pay attention to new sharp and flat notes when moving from different keys. | A modulation can be used to change the mood of a piece, eg modulating to the relative minor could mean that the music has reacted to a negative has occurred. |
