Vocabulary for family relations used in real-life situations. Germans of all ages and from all walks of life introduce their family and friends and explain their relationships to the people surrounding them. They give their ages and say their names. They say whether they are married or single.

Ask students to watch the clip and the write the German for the different relations into two columns to show whether they are masculine or feminine. The vocabulary could then be used by students to describe a picture or series of pictures of their own family and friends orally or in writing. Students could also write a presentation on their families to deliver to the class.
