Classroom Ideas

Before watching the clip, ask students to prepare an improvisation set at a modern day party, in which two people see and are attracted to each other. Through the scene, find an interesting way to show their thoughts, keeping it fun and light hearted. Watch the clip. Discuss the context about how Romeo and Juliet don鈥檛 yet foresee the future and how to create the scene without it becoming too heavy. Rehearse Romeo鈥檚 speech in pairs. The student playing Romeo should focus on words, while the student playing Juliet should focus on body language and facial expression.
