'Pinda Cake' by Valerie Bloom (poem only)
Description
Valerie Bloom performs her poem 鈥楶inda Cake鈥 for a group of children and uses Jamaican patois to create a distinctive rhythm and rhyme.
Classroom Ideas
Students could join in with the singing and performance sections of the poem. Students could listen to verses for which there are no actions, and in small groups draw pictures to represent the scene. Students could collate their images to create a storyboard of the poem and use this to help choreograph a performance of the poem.
