could u ask jon,when he was in the kubrick estate filming "boxes" did it feel as though stanley was still there even tho he sadly had passed away.it certainly felt whilst watching the (brilliant) documentary that kubrick was still pullling the strings from beyond the grave which was a little eerie..and did he see scatman crothers hanging around?

I wanted to share an idea I had for a future mixtape theme. Its a pretty tricky one but I think with some serious thought it could be done. The basic idea is that each song is a cover of the next artist on the compilation. I have tried doing this in my head before and got quite far but its really hard and I can't remember the songs I chose but I usually start with The Shins covering Postal Service's 'We Become Silhouettes' followed by Postal Service covering Flaming Lips 'Suddenly Everything Has Changed' and then there are a choice of songs that Flaming Lips have covered and my head explodes thinking of all the possible permutations.

The chain itself isn't that hard though really. You can use www.coversproject.com to help. The real holy grail is a mixtape which does all this and then ends on a cover of the first artist on the tape creating a never ending cycle of songs which would necessarily stretch unstoppably into infinity and thus prevent evil sneaky people from shutting down 6 Music. I had hoped that this would turn out to be the plot of the Michael Cera film 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' but I watched it and it wasn't and it turned out to be poo so I urge you to consider my suggestion for a future show seriously,

I would recommend Autumn Sweater by Yo La Tengo. Never has such a beautiful niose been made by so few instruments *sigh*. In order to confirm cool credentials perhaps you could include Sometimes by Les Rhythms Digitales. Maybe then you could jazz it up a bit with Here Comes Your Man by the Pixies.Perhaps also a bit of Little Red Corvette by Prince to encourage some lying down tickling?

Finally, but only if the other person has a superior sense of humour, I would say Business Time by Flight of the Conchords...

I would have to pick ‘Temptation Of Adam’ by Josh Ritter as a mustie for New Relations comp.

For those who don’t know it’s a story about two strangers who are forced to share an underground bunker together during an imaginary cold war and fall in love, largely because of the place they find themselves. Oddest subject matter for a love song and the story is what makes it’s fantasticness.

Question for JR – What law could we impose to stop the other Ronson from ever being allowed near a recording studio ever again?

Ask Jon if a giant alien ship came down from space, would the aliens have conspiracies as well, or are they simply a human phenomenon? Do they exist in the animal world, for example, stick insects are typically born in ant colonies, as this serves to protect and preserve the eggs, thus the first incantation of the creature resembles an ant, in order to afford it protection, now is this a conspiracy or simply deception?
Alternatively are there in fact no conspiracies, except the conspiracy theories themselves which are made up to keep the general public confused?

On a less brain tasking subject, would I benefit more by actually reading his books rather than listening to an audio version? And why is it acceptable for an author to get someone else to read their book (for an audio version) (which is surely simply lazy) whereas if a group perform someone else's song there is an uproar, as there seems to a loss of passion from the original artists intent? (Is it just that actors are better at keeping passion than musicians?)

Firstly, can I recommend including the track Joga by Bjork. A wonderfully towering piece of odd-pop which cracks open down the middle and feels like that curious inner turmoil of the vertiginous feeling of falling for someone. Oh, and also it worked like a treat for me once on a compilation many years ago. Gooey lady ensued.

And, can you ask Jon a question I'm sure he's sick of, but is there anywhere to get hold of a copy of Secret Rulers of the World. I missed most of it first time around and now after having read Them, I really want to go back. The only online copy I could find is massively out of sync and entirely frustrating...
