Whatever happened to Chris Dean of The Redskins ? The man who combined writing for the NME as X.Moore with his day job as singer with the skinhead band it was alright to like in the 1980s, was said to have moved to Paris where he was living the life of a recluse. Of course, as Doris Day said this week, people think you're a recluse when all it means is that you spend most of your time in the house. Having aÌýwonderful time, presumably.ÌýSpeaking of Doris, The Door and The Window make a rare outing. Are they any good ? I don't know, but Mark Perry of Alternative TV thought they were good enough for him to join, so judge for yourself. Starting with The Damned, and ending with The Stooges. Punk rockin' bookends.

Didn't Chris Dean end up being a postman?

Also wanted to say while, post Alternative TV, a lot of Mark Perry's projects were a bit challenging musically (and didn't ATV tour once where they drew lots for which instruments they played regardless of whether they could actually play them?), you have to admire his critique of the direction punk was taking at the time. You could never accuse him (then) of selling out.

After The Redskins Chris Dean formed a band called Chris Dean and The Crystallites. They recorded some matrial and I can recall a track by them being played by John Peel.

His X Moore articles for the NME were for the most part just typical rock journo’s pretentious drivel.

1977 - the year of Dave Sim's Cerebus, a comic taking the punk DIY aesthetic to it's reaches, and too far. Roger Sabin directed me to your show with the possibility in mind that you might plug the Belfast Comics Barcamp (Sept 3rd) aimed at getting Ireland's active lo-fi mass of cartoonists involved in some profile commercial work. That said, I suspect his ulterior motive was subjecting me to your show and aiding some of the stress in putting the barcamp together. So thanks for that. Loving the Door and the Window number. Bit Blue Aeroplanes, bit HMHB.
