Gym Class Heroes - The Breakfast Club

Gym Class HeroesY'know that Gym Class Heroes song 'Cupid's Chokehold'? The one with Patrick Stump pretending to be a member of '70s pre-Feeling rock ledges Supertramp and singing about his girlf and that? Well, have you noticed that it's actually called 'Cupid's Chokehold (Breakfast In America)'?

This is because the original Supertramp song Patrick is singing is called 'Breakfast In America', see. Presumably there has been some heated discussion between Supertramp's legal team and GCH's about what you can get away with calling a song if you've nicked bits of another song in order to make it, and the brackets are what passes for an elegant compromise.

Not that I'm complaining, as it gives me the perfect excuse to finally ask all the questions I've been storing up about The Great American Breakfast - as seen on American TV shows and NOT experienced first hand. Like what's the deal with pancakes, eggs, bacon AND SYRUP all on one plate?

DisashiSo, armed with a bunch of questions just like that one - I know, exciting, eh? - I set off to ring GCH's statuesque fret-spangler Disashi with a song in my heart and cornflakes in my stomach.

What I expected: A handy guide to the different breakfast customs observed by our American cousins, with the purpose of bringing our two nations closer together in the spirit of international diplomacy.

What I did not expect: A hidden obsession with scrambled eggs, tales of fast food guilt, a man who has never seen the film E.T....
