The Jonas Brothers - 'Burnin' Up'

Jonas BrothersIf you're an Olympic athlete, there's probably no such thing as trying too hard. If you work for one of the emergency services, or if you're a doctor, or a teacher, or a footballer, putting 110% into your work is not just statistically impossible, it's what's expected of you at the end of the day (damn, you mention footballers and suddenly you're talking like one. Obviously I'm disappointed with this outcome, but y'know, the lads have done us proud).

These rules do not apply if you're a musician. Musicians might claim that they do, but they don't.

Sometimes, in the field of popular song, you have to know when to stop trying and just let the good stuff happen around you without you getting in the way. This won't actually make you a bad team player either. It just means you are aware of what is best for the music you are helping to make and will do what is required to support this.

I am talking to you, Mr Drummer In The Jonas Brothers.

I dunno if there's something wrong with the mix, or you just couldn't help yourself but, should you ever be in the position to re-record this song, might I suggest a nice warm cup of Ovaltine before you start? Perhaps lay off the sugary drinks and/or strong coffee? It's just - and I don't want to be rude here - you're spoiling the young people's party fun by playing ALL THE DRUMS, ALL THE TIME.

Now, dear ChartBloggerer, I don't want to be the person who ruins a perfectly nice (if slightly anonymous) pop song by pointing out one slight niggle, which then becomes the only thing anyone can hear whenever it comes on the radio. Having said that, I don't really thing that's going to be a problem because of all the DRUMMING.

It's just too busy. It's like the drummer has seen JoBro as being his BIG CHANCE to MAKE A MARK and is filling every conceivable space in the music with a thwack or a tisssshhhh. We're not listening to you, fella! We've got pretty boys to listen to! They're doing their thing! Back off! Unwind! Settle down, your mum's watching! CHILLAX, 'BRO'!

Boy...maybe I should lay off those sugary drinks too...

PS: Ha ha! We were JUST talking about people putting bad comedy raps into pop songs, and NOW look...

I think the bigger problem here is that all the jonas brothers are recording anything at all, the album would definately benefit if all of them stopped playing completely and didnt sing at all. If this was the case i would like them 110% more.

The jonas brothers may encourage children to listen music with guitars.
This can be the only good thing about them.
and im not even sure i believe that.
there are better bands out there who do the same job anyway.
and they are in a film called camp rock
which while it may be held on a camp site (presumably)
it seems to have little to do with rock, unless its of a geological variety.
sounds like a promising film that...
nor anything to do with the darkness, if you take the title as a whole.
So therefore it is misleading the children of today.
therefore it is wrong. it encourages a generation of pathological liers.
i dont want that do you?

If the drumming is too intrusive on a single, that isn't the drummer's fault, it's the producer, quite possibly the same guy who ruined Delays' Everything's the Rush
