Good good good good afternoon, welcome to the first ever remote blog 鈥
This blog is being phoned in as its perpetrator drives round the leafy winding roads of Surrey on a sunny Friday afternoon
I am currently heading back to work to the city of London having just had my arse smashed at golf by鈥
鈥ir Gary Lineakar. Gary and I had met before many times but finally really got to know each other when we worked together on this years Sports Relief. He mentioned on more than one occasion that we should have a game of golf. I now know why. He spanked me all over the course. The famous Lineakar grin has blinded me for most of the morning; I must remember to wear sunglasses next time, either that or learn how to beat him. Gary is ridiculously healthy, he took his shirt off in the locker room and I had to look away, not because of any latent homosexual desires that I was feeling but because he is so bloody sickeningly fit and toned and tanned. (actually now come to think of it he is quite attractive) -
Note to self; must go to the gym at least ten times a week more often than I do
Oh larh dee dah, ho hum back to being a DJ for the day.
What about this. What about, when someone phones you up and leaves a message saying that they need to talk to you about something. There are certain times in your life when this kind of message can send a chill through your spine. This is when things are generally out of control and circumstances and people are catching up with you. There are other times however in your life that this kind of phone call can only excite you or at the very least intrigue you.
I had experience of the later last night.
Remember the girl on the sofa? She called me to say she wanted a chat, -
鈥渆rm鈥ould you give me a call I just want to talk to you about something.鈥
So I called her, and guess what? She wasn鈥檛 in. And then however this morning she鈥檇 called back but I was miles away in the land of nod. So I called her again she was on answer phone. She then returned my call I was on answer phone and we still haven鈥檛 had the chat.
Now here鈥檚 the funny thing she鈥檚 actually sat next to me but since we met up we鈥檝e been in the company of other people, SO WE STILL HAVEN鈥橳 HAD THE F#@#& CHAT.
So I鈥檓 now going to put the phone down and see if the chat is still required. From the expression on her face I suspect it is.
I鈥檒l keep you posted if the subject matter of the now much long awaited 鈥渃hat鈥 is blogable. x

Just keep cool chris it might be good
Tell me about annoying "we need to talk" comments. My husband is expert! And it's always bad news! So I try not to do it to him but he's getting to know me so well that he now guesses!
For example - I didn't want to tell him about losing my job a fortnight ago on the phone. He rings up and has a bit chat and then asks whats wrong (cos I'm rubbish at disguising bad news). I won't tell him until he's in front of me - at which point he goes "I knew that's what it was". Arrgghh!!!
Next time you play golf with the Linekar - can you take a photo of the topless wonder and post it on the blog for all us girlies. Cheer me up anyway!!!!!

You mentioned on your show yesterday that someone had done a vlookup in Excel for the first time. You didn't know what this was, so thought I'd enlighten you. In simple terms, its a formula you can use to reference and compare large (or small) amounts of data - saves you a lot of time if you're an Analyst like myself. Quite boring I know and to be honest, never, ever thought that I'd have the word "anal" in my job title! Just goes to show you never know what's gonna happen in life!

I'm sure I wasn't on my own in this but I was getting quite worried about you! Glad to know you're safe and well, shame about the spanking but at least it was to one of my hero's. He is just such a nice bloke!
Intrigued to know what "the chat" will be about but I know what you mean. I dare say that my friend had the sinking feeling about the chat she was invited in for yesterday (the friend who was told she hadn't got a job any more). On the bright side my hangover has now gone, it's Friday afternoon, I've got my mates boyfriend in for a presentation this afternoon and he's really dishy so that will keep me smiling... (Em please not that he's safe I'm only looking and you're a very lucky girl waking up to that every morning).
Can't wait for tonight, am going to pay for my ski trip and have a few beers with the boys that I'm going with YIPPEEEE!

Gary Linekar, sexy, eh if you say so. Not my cup if tea on a normal day. However, on a day like today, I鈥檓 feeling strange urges towards the most unlikely of people. I think my body is trying to tell me something but has forgotten to liase with my brain first.

I know what you mean. Whenever any of my immediate family leave a message simply along the lines of "pls call when u r free" etc, I get very nervous. Don't see them that often, and one of my brothers does an occasionally dangerous job (he was swept overboard on his most recent transatlantic race). I would never want to become blase about my family's health.
But when it's someone you really want to be with who does it - oooh, the spine tingles. The first time Kate asked if she could ring for a chat...now I look forward to seeing her every day : )

i wish i could play golf. I started learning some time back and was ok, but could never hit it past 25 yards, would have taken years to get round 9 holes. was probably swinging too hard/fast.

I was hoping you would be writing about detoxing today and as I'm so spoilt and used to getting what I want I'm gutted that you haven't. Anyway, doesn't stop me writing about it does it? xx
I'm tres excited today as I have next week off of work to detox. Detoxing is not very pleasant but the after effects are - the opposite of a bingeing totally trollied weekender. As I am a huge fan and master of the latter the detoxing takes some effort but is a necessity. I'll have my banging head and sugar/carbs craving all before my loopy high. I'll exist on water and juice and saunas and green tea for 2 days then introduce solid fruit as well on day 3. I'll indulge in lots of sofa time and chick mags and deep, meaningful books. Day 4 is the hump day - emotionally I'm a mess and booing and very close to giving up. My inner sun comes out from behind it's cloud again on day 5 and shines brighter than ever before, much to the irritation of friends and colleagues! I am a very loveable but intolerable Tigger post detox. It's like a massive energy rush that's usually lasts for several days........or until I retox. About a week later I give blood and then I really feel like a whole new me. Shame it doesn't last long. xx
Well, I wish all of you who indulge a good old fashioned toxic weekend. Think of me in my abstinence and possibly sharing your Monday morning 'hangover'. Mine will be more of a hangunder.

Jonathan King!... is it the same one? shouldn't think so... oh! baby bless you... just listen to what the girl on the sofa has to say & just by listening to you I know that you are capable of listening which is cool... & go from there... one step at a time...I heard on the radio today that most 60 year olds wish they had had sex more often when they were younger... d'jer know when I was 50 I used to say to my mates "I've had enough sex to last me a lifetime"... five years later I met this gorgeous bloke (blokes are cool... you're a bloke)... I don't think you can ever have enough if the magic is there... anyway you've had a couple of mentions this week on T.W's show which means there are other togs out there tuning into you... which is nice... & what about La Lolla how cool is that & they've known each other for 22 years... James Dean had it right... live every day as if it were the last... best movie The Big Lerbowski & close second Withnail & I... & mushrooms are brilliant... my darling dad used to call them poor man's beef... have a lovely week-end... be good & stay cool. The phone calls I do not like are the ones that show up on my mobile as a 鈥減rivate call鈥. I always worry how someone gets hold of my number! My experience is that they are selling something. I usually just cancel the call as if it is important they will leave a message and I will call them back鈥︹afer that way!
I do hope the reason for a chat to the 鈥済irl from the sofa鈥 is blogable as now we know we need to know, if you know what I mean ;-)

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
Pfizer Corp announced today that Viagra will soon be available in liquid form, and will be marketed by Pepsi Cola as a power beverage suitable for use as a mixer. It will now be possible for a man to literally pour himself a stiff one. Thought for the day: There is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra today than on Alzheimer's research. This means that by 2040, There should be a large elderly population with perky boobs and huge erections and absolutely no recollection of what to do with them.

Sofa girls request sounds very intriguing and I suspect you are kind of hoping that she wants to talk about the same 'something' you have also wanted to talk about....if you get me.
I love being of that stage of 'things', and have you ever noticed that sometimes you almost rehearse a conversation in your head as to how you hope it goes....and then it almost follows the plan exactly with the other person saying almost word for word what you had hoped they would....? Like it was meant to be!!
Sorry - I am a soppy romantic (assuming that's the point of this conversation) but it's all very exciting. Hope it goes well!

Wow -Listen to the show regularly but have just got round to checking out this Blog/Slog Thing - it's massive & it's got it all going on!
Haven't had chance to read it all but after a random dart about it's been so enlightening & entertaining.
A few entries got my attention & so here goes with my comments for what they're worth:
Big Un/Keith -Great joke, great advise.
Whoever wanted to know about caring for indoor pot plants:
1.Try buying them a bigger saucer to stand in & filling it with gravel. These plants are usually from tropical countries so the idea is to try & increase the humidity around them.
2. Give them an organic liquid feed weekly (but not in the winter)
3. Keep the leaves clean.
4. Water with rain water if possible(they don't like the chemicals in tap water) & wait for the surface of the compost to dry slightly before watering/feeding to prevent rotting.
5. Check their roots inside the pot & if they're showing repot in a slightly larger pot preferably in the spring.
6. Give them a little holiday outside on summer days (avoid full sun & don't leave them out all night)
Hope that helps - I love gardening - I was a psychiatric nurse for years (until hospital politics drove me away) but now people pay me to look after their gardens - it's an amazing way to earn a living.
To whoever was reading Louise Wener's book - I don't know about her writing but she was a great singer in the band "Sleeper" Really nice person too - she's one of my gardening customers.

I live half my life in India & half in London & it's been a funny coincidence that on my way back from Bombay airport I saw you wondering about looking at the shops. This drew my attention to your radio show (I wouldn't normally listen to Radio2!) Yet I'm so glad I have now - it's been such an education.I have read Leo Hickman's "A life stripped bare" & am now trying to live more ethically & am just starting on a Deepak Chopra book.
I've even made a soup with a chicken carcass for tonights tea - doubt if it's as tasty as your Ma's though - if you ever get her to part with the recipe please post it up!
I kind of know what you mean when you write that the little things in life excite you now - Like a cup of green tea with honey. You've learnt to live in the "now" & appreciate beauty in the ordinary, like the light catching a little cloud of flies. You may not have found the love of your life yet but what you've learned is special & most people don't even realise it exists.
Anyway, enough blogging...I should get back to painting the kitchen cupboards...does anyone know how to get paint off a computer keyboard?

I agree with you, you can get a whole load of work done early on as long as you stay clear of the dreaded Zzzzzz key. I was amazed that someone thought my ramblings made sense to anyone else but me. There's hope for me yet.

As for people who want to "chat" thats cool its the people who wont chat they are very annoying much easier to just say what is on your mind and get on with it.

Ref today's musings, a "worse" one is someone who replies to your text with "Speak soon" and doesn't. That can hurt.
When you iz involved with someone you care heaps about and they leave a message that says "Just phoned to say hello", there's that combination of tingle that they phoned and pi**sed that you missed their call. Esp if circumstances dictate you can't phone them back. Itch itch itch..........
And wot about hearing their voice on yr mailbox and your heart speeds up (for the nicest reasons).
(P.S. It's not only women who "sit by the phone" .....)

today's Blog than you did in yesterday's.
You've had a good day despite being well and
truly "gubbed" by Smiler. But combining
yesterday's Blog with today's;
People have their own reasons, devious or
otherwise, for "putting out" (sic)
A story, if I may,from just over 10 years ago:-
My wonderful girlfriend and I had been dating
for over a year, when I asked her to marry me.
There was only one little thing bothering me.
It was her beautiful younger sister.
My prospective sister-in-law was twenty-two,
wore very tight miniskirts,and generally was
bra-less. She would regularly bend down when
she was near me, and I always got more than a
pleasant view of her "delicates". It had to be
deliberate. She never did it when she was near
anyone else!
One day "little sister" left a message on my
answer machine asking me to phone her back
"if and when convenient" (????). When I phoned
back, she asked me to come over to check the
wedding invitations but not let on to my fiancee.
A bit confused, I agreed. She was alone when I
arrived, and far from wanting the invitations
checked, just came right out and said to me that
she had feelings and desires for me that she
couldn't overcome. She told me her feelings had
started a month or so after she had come out of
a bad relationship and I had insisted she come
out with her sis and me Fridays. I made sure
she was part of those nights out and didn't feel
a gooseberry. The feelings apparently
maginified and subsequently turned
a bit jealous when my fiancee had confided
( for that read 'gossiped') to her some details of
our love life. So little sis wanted it out of her
system and asked me to "do it" with her just
once before I got married and committed my life
to her sister. She promised she would never
breathe a word. What would you do ?
Oh, I know what the "Daily Blah" (sic) readers
would do. Well, I was in total shock, and *I*
couldn't breathe a syllable, never mind HER
promising not to breathe a word. She said, "I'm
going upstairs to my bedroom, and if you want
one last wild fling, just come up and get me."
I was stunned and frozen in shock, dry in the
mouth as I watched her go up the stairs. When
she was out of sight I turned and ran to the
front door. I have to tell you I nearly fell flat on
my face in my hurry to get out of there and get
to my car. Breathing was quite erratic.
My heart near stopped though when I got
outside and found members of my future family
standing there with smiles on their face(s).
Maw,paw, granny & of course fiancee.
Granny (who taught me to make a mean
Cinamon scone and was conscripted to do the
wedding cake - the bitch had been teasing me
with samples) queried with a glint in her eye
"I suppose this means I'm not 'getting a go'
either then". Fiancee was all over me like the
proverbial rash and whispered "We are *SO*
not going out tonight" (Watching too much
American TV methinks!) I perhaps shouldn't
mention that Granny (72 then and still going
strong now) was ignoring the gasps caused by
her earlier comment and was discreetly feeling
my ass.
Last in line, my future father-in-law
hugged me and said "We are very happy that
you have passed our little test..... we couldn't
ask for a better man for our daughter.
Welcome to the family."
And what was *I* thinking whilst this
embarassing hug-fest was going on ?

I have been away working for over a week so have been unable to see or read the blog!! Have also missed all the shows since last Thursday!! I love going to New York but there and back twice in 5 days is really stretching my patience!! Hey, nature of the beast really and I do love my job!
I've only had time to read Chris's blogs and not the replies yet as I have to get ready to go out tonight for a ruby! Am going to see some of the loveliest friends I have who live in Hampshire when I live in Wiltshire! I know its a long way to go for a curry but we all work in avaition industry and getting us all in the country at the same time for a night out is nigh on impossible!!
I did however, go straight to last Fridays blog to see how THE BIGUN, KEITH, got on! Hurray Hurray Hurray!!! Am so pleased you got good news! I have been thinking of you all week and was very frustrated to not know! Thanks for letting us know!

Just how glad am I that I am driving from Oxford to Lancashire up the M6 on Wednesday not tonight!!! Sounds like a right mare.
Ooh, really intrigued about the chat with the girl from the sofa. I hope it is bloggable but in case it isn't maybe you shouldn't have tantalised us by mentioning it.
Gary Linekar is lovely. Could you make him the next picture on the blog. And how about Gary in Johnny's locker? Wonder what he has on his MP3 player? I don't actually own an MP3 and am now wondering if I am missing out on something. Must say it would have been useful when moving around Europe with only as much as I could carry!

have been listening to the show from day one, and am a recent convert to the blog and just had to write and become one of the family cos chris is soooo right when he says that he has the loveliest listeners to his show - you can feel the warmth and generosity and positivity coming off the screen as you dip into the blog. such a welcome change from so many of the people one is surrounded by, in my office at least, who grumble about well, just about everything, and have totally not realised that we live largely in the world of our making and we'd better bloody make it happier and fluffier and smilier and twinklier and lets do it today!
may all of us strive every day to find the wizard within and take our magic out into the world. this weekend i'm gonna smile at a stranger and see what happens......

Usually I cant blog as the show goes oot as I am at work.
Its Saturday and I have discovered I have become my father as I have just finished working on my car鈥︹mmmm鈥.. and I feel like a proper grown up for knowing how to do it鈥.not bad for a 31yr old lol.
Now the reason I am blogging as I am a newbie blogger is that I have just seen Ant & Decs TV spectacular of a Saturday. Now on there was the girls from All Saints, I now think that the old saying was correct things do improve with age I always that they were good however tonight not only were they in good form but the looked well鈥︹︹︹. As Tony the tiger would Say .. GGGGGGGrrrrreeeeat!!!! Grr! Eh I mean really fit鈥

Not had a chance to post anything on here for a while. All work and no play is in danger of making Josie a very dull girly! Had a great wekend including 2 x 11 hour sleeping sessions! Phew, guess I was really tired. My lovely fella came up for the weekend and must have thought he was attached to a sloth. Oh well, will make it up next weekend. He goes home early on Sundays to go to church, which is a bit of an odd combination with me as I'm an atheist. But seems to work for us!
What's with the Jonathon King name thing Chris? A man who always gave me the creeps.
Telephone ping-pong is frustrating isn't it? And seems to place more emphasis on whatever the chat might be about. Hope it's all good and not just a telling off for posting her pic on the blog!
Need to go and do some shopping and write a few lists to get me through the next week. Off to Birmingham and Muchengladbach (fantastic name) for work next week. Bit of an odd mixture, hope I remember to be in the right place at the right time and not get them mixed up!

T being a sporting decisive sort of a person, I imagine she would would have holed you up somewhere and let you have it, verbally that is, in no uncertain fashion. So its my guess it will be about the lack of bedding when she stays over OR she wants to go on the payroll for you contributing her private life to the blog OR maybe she is going to tell you she is already seeing someone else and indiscriminate confessions and piccies on blog sites are not helpful! OOOOer! I agree with Mandy. Why should all the Zen type publications have to refer to a God of one sort or another.
Why do people need the direction of a so called higher spiritual being to get ahead with our lives?
Are we all sheep?
Do we require a shepherd in order to get from the cradle to the grave?
Or do we just need someone else to blame when everything goes tits up?
We are one of the so called higher intelligence types on this planet but at times I think that this situation needs revallidating.
We are all individuals and therefore capable of our own unique thoughts for given situations.
What happened squillions of years ago surely does not apply to the advanced culture (this is open to discussion) we are in today. Humans/civilisation is meant to advance and not live in the past..

How sad to hear of the death of Paul Walters of Wake up to Wogan. The fact that he has been ill for some time and it was always hoped that he may recover somehow makes it doubly so. He was one of those special people who chose to do a job that he loved, and was extremely good at what he enjoyed doing.
A salutory reminder I feel, that we should all try to do the same.
