THE BEST THING YOU CAN DO IS KEEP ON GOING THE RIGHT THING

Chris Evans | 15:15 UK time, Wednesday, 16 May 2007

So that's the title of tonight's show. It came to me today in the middle of checking out my...

tumbling tomato plants, which, by the way are bloody robust little buggers.

When unsure about things, anything at all, all you need to do is the right thing but the right thing about everything. No more can one do and if you keep doing it, no matter how long things seem to be taking or how many apparent slaps in the face one may get this will be the best way to ensure that things will fall your way AT SOME POINT.!Also, doing the right thing, means that you'll be able to sleep at night.

Beings and circumstances need air to breathe, cars need fuel to move along, flowers need light to grow. The only way something can get to you (other than serious illness or losing a loved one) is if you give it the life to do so. Last night I spent a hell of a couple of hours dwelling, dwelling on nonsense, stupidly giving it the legs to run at me and keep on hitting me where it hurts. I thought about it some more and eventually with a few kind words from a few kind people I realised I HAD DONE ALL I COULD to aid the situation from my side. I could have gotten angry, I could have seeked confrontation but i didn't I just carried on digging for the good stuff.

Diversion from what we want to achieve is usually allowed by us for fear we will never achieve it anyway and it also means we get to blame someone else should we fail in our desired end. This kind of decision will definitely keep you awake at night, as opposed to if you know you've done all you can, until tomorrow at least, your dreams will be full of giant flying pink elephants shouting , Wheeeee as they pass on by.

See how good growing tomatoes can be for you.

    Well said Christophe.

Never waste your energy on things which are out of your control and if everyone just 'did the right thing' the world would be a much happier place.

    I dont like tomatoes though

HUGELY agree with you Christophe. My mantra is to have faith. I have tried to instill this into the boy since we have been together, as his natural stance is to dwell on the negative and to over-analyse...

I don't see the point in trying to over-read a situation - particularly when there is nothing or no more that you can do...however, the power of positive thinking is working for him, and ultimately for me, as it seems that this year we are finally getting rid of all the bad, and getting some good coming in.

    Well done for getting there.

    Hi Chris,

Good philosphy and always keep it close to your heart.

I was once asked if I had any regrets about my life. My answer was "No, I don't." When asked why not I replied "When you regret stuff you spend time looking backwards at what is already done thus you can miss the good stuff coming towards you."

So keep looking forwards to make sure you catch all your good stuff.

My good stuff, each day, is kisses from my fiance and cats, finishing work at 5.30pm and listening to your show, on the way home, for all your good stuff.

    Stay happy

    Donna
