STEADY SHOWERS ALL DAY AND I KNOW WHY.
Been steeped in revision all day again !
Meteorology and lots of it. I don't know ! I just about get me head around katabatic and anabatic air flows and then they throw adiabatic lapse rate at me, how come that's 1 degree c., quicker per thousand feet than what we are told is the standard cooling rate for air which is around 1.98 degrees c. per thousand feet ? and don't even start me on the Coriolis effect. Now sea breeze i get, what with wamer more stable air coming in off the water to replace the rising re radiated air shooting up from the land but clouds, clouds, bloody clouds, there may be only four types but how many variations exist within those ? Even the book says sometimes it's not quite sure what's going on !
So a much deserved treet was served up at lunch... fish finger sandwiches, they were bloomin' lovely and not just cheap crappy ones that fall apart when you try to separate them from the baking tray, these were big boys sent in to is by No Catch fish fingers... sustainable and scrumptious, they were almighty alrighty with a crust to die for and huge chunks of lovely fish inside. And because we're grown up we had peas and beans ! Cos' we can.
Now, beneath a pretty low layer of stratocumulus London s struggling to see the funny side of a Thursday afternoon, still the cold front should be through soon unless we're experiencing a col with another one on the way, ho hum.

Oh my GG's I have just become so hungry, can't wait to get tucked in around an hour or so.
I'll def skip the gym tonight, buy the necess and lay it all out - an hour of tender-loving care in the kitchen beckons with a g&t and a sip of red or two.
V v sunny in Belfast today, lovely once again, everyone is in such a good mood when sunny boy comes out to play.
Here, boy, any update on the house sale . . we need to know when the new housewarming is . !!!!
EEEK!
And there was me thinking it was just a bit of weather! Sky's pretty blue where I can see through my office velux so I'm not sure I've got anything to moan about xcept my lack of fish finger sarnies... not sure they'd be good for the new ww regime... think I'll stick to my plan for now.

Aaaaah Chris,
Brings back happy memories of when I was a younger moose, learning all this stuff without having to take out a huge loan to fund it, 4 hours of lectures a week and meeting Mrs M...
Back to reality, fish finger sandwiches. Yes. Lived on them for a month once. Ran out of cash but had some fish fingers in the freezer...probably not the most nutritionally balanced of months but character building.
Moose
PS I'm back...obviously.
Well the date has been and gone and WOW! Oh he's lovely. It just felt really nice and relaxed. I apoligise to the people sitting next to us in Starbucks. He's a good looking guy and I had to kiss him! Anyway hopefully seeing him on sunday or if not next thursday.
Wow fish finger sandwiches. I don't really like fish but sometimes just fancy fish fingers with ketchup and mayo, yumyum!
Gingembre- was that you in a people carrier! WE went into HMV and I was thinking 'am I gonna see anyone I know?' And ofcourse I did, someone who I worked at Jarrolds with so the rumour mill as already started no doubt.
Well I'm off to watch neighbours. Will pop on here again later, missy xx
Well, that was painless. The very nice Boiler Man has been and gone. The problem was probably trapped air in the pipes! My heating system had 'wind' so it seems!
The best bit is he didn't charge a penny, we had an engineer from the same company out three weeks ago and the repairs cost £320 so I was hoping that this problem was related to the previous.
We now have hot water again, and I can have a hot and not lukewarm bath again Hooray!!!!
Missy, going out for dinner at a friends later, hope to find out how your coffee date went when I get back. Hope he wasn't a numbnut skinny latte just as Clodagh said! x
Forgot to say that I absolutely love fish finger sandwiches. The bread has to be white and very fresh. Then you break the fish fingers up a little while the melt the butter and you add a little vinegar and tomato ketchup. Lovely Jubbly.
Debbie xx
Hello again
I don't post for weeks then twice in one day....typical lol
How could I forget fish finger sandwiches...mmmm yummy with lashings of mayo!
Missy - pleased the date went well ;o)
Moose - welcome back xx

Hello one and all!
Today is my birthday!! I am happy to say that I am 38. Why am I so happy to be 38? Because yesterday at the gym, someone mistook me for my 14 year old daughter's older sister. Weeelllll, hello there!!
WooHoo!!!
Amanda
Blimey.
Moose, Mary, HL. It's like, umm, last year. Ish.
Welcome back chaps.
CTD. I'm afraid, due to Mrs MfR's global galavanting, I'm doing The Restaurant in a slightly different time zone to everyone else, so I currently have no idea what is going on. I'll let you know tomorrow who I think will go out tonight. Or something like that anyway.
Christophe. John Hammond must be quaking in his wellingtons. Just don't go telling us when there isn't going to be a hurricane.
I have lots of venom to spew about motorways, having just spent the last three hours on one particular orbital one, but we all know about that, and easing into a nice glass of cheeky sauvignon blanc is a far more relaxing way of venting one's frustrations.
So I'll go and do that instead.

Fish finger sandwiches!
Now that is a good childhood memory.....
Dear Chris,
I am in Australia. I saw you on Parky last night. I thought you were great. So honest about your life. I picked up some sadness in you, so if you need a friend email me. Cheers Faith
chris the clouds are good but me thinks the stars are better...friday already were does the week go...blown away like some clouds..some serious fishing this weekend have a nice one.
Bonjour mon petit fleurs
I love days that take an unexpected twist. MrsW, the kiddies and me were slumped on the sofa after a day of shopping (far too much purchased too!) and my phone went off.
"Hello mate, if you can get to Spurs tonight I have a free ticket for you" was the opening line from my (now favourite) cousin. "Actually I'll meet you asap at stansted services if you want" was his second.
So off I shot, and what a great night, 6 goals for the lilywhites, JD off the bench with 2 glorious finishes and sitting with one of the funniest people I know (my cousin). Sorry to crow, but we've been awful so far this season and I don't get the chance to get to many games lately.
missy - I do drive a people carrier type family car, depends where n when you saw me? Glad it went well, and bravo for puckering up.
Hi to all you returning bloggers, good to see you back. HL and Bingo, on top form as usual.
Off to have a haircut later today, then to Ibiza tomorrow. Can't wait. Will send you all a postcard.

You just got to see this clip if you haven't already... Ant and Dec eat yer heart out. Don't forget your toothbrush with the great Jules Holland. Shame Lulu spoilt it at the end.
you may need to copy and paste into search engine.
Nice to see Moose and Bingo Victor Meldrew sends err..... his regardevous.
Oh, Chris...I'm starting a course (you may remember from AGES ago, or not obviously, you are a very busy man after all)...it finally(?) begins on 28th October, but it is all about synapse and relapse...but all relates to general stability...so almost the same...BUT one of our friends did a charidee sky dive last Sunday (out of a real aeroplane and everything!)...she text me a picture of her doing 120mph in a generally downward direction whilst strapped to a rather gorgeous gentleman...we could call it 'alibatic' with an aerobatic collapse at the end...and then spent the rest of the day drinking champers with him. There are worse ways to spend a Sunday!
To be honest, I've not done at all well lately. Have been missing the show an awful lot, and then, we had to go and pay our rent (for the Sett) last eve, so I've missed the lovely Clodagh's gobsmackers too! Flipping heck. (Other expletives available)
...and oh lawks. The Land of the Faraway Tree. Last time I was on hols with my mum (and am away with her again on Weds hoorah it really doesn't seem like a year ago...) there was a girl reading the omnibus, and she leant it to me! Ooda thortit. Lying on a beach, at my age, reading Enid Blyton. And smoking Marlb0r0. And drinking gin. How decadent.
Other news.
Bingo. Of COURSE I've been wrockin! I wrocked myself into oblivion on the evening of the 7th Sept, then proceeded to carry on until about 5am on the Sunday morning when I gave up the ghost on my mates sofa...Couldn't let the side down now could I?
Now. Where can I get some fish fingers?

Good Morning,
Gingembre, I was at a friends for dinner last night and her husband was there at White Hart Lane too. He is Cypriot but stayed loyal to Spurs! When he got back he told me how much he pays for his season ticket, blimey you would really have to love football to pay that!
Dinner was lovely last night, haven't meet up with my loopy mate for ages. We used to work together and had lots to catch up with.
My excitement over the fixed boiler was short lived by the way. The engineer tested the central heating and left it on. Now it won't go off. It's like being at the Costa Del Sol at home at the moment. You walk in through the front door and it's like stepping off the blooming airplane when you go on holiday. Just about to phone the engineer and get him back!
Glad that you enjoyed your date Missy.
Gingembre have a lovely, lovely holiday.
Bye for now
Debbie xx
It's Friday - how fantastic! And we have a holiday weekend here in Glasgow, so it's all good.
Mary and Moose - how lovely to see you both!
Missy - so glad you had such a good time. OF COURSE you had to kiss him! How will you survive if you have to wait until next Thursday to see him again?!
Hazel - typical, you just get back and then you're heading off on holiday next week. Really not good enough!
Gingembre - have a great holiday - I was supposed to go to Ibiza next week, but the plans fell through. I could have met up with you for a Pina Colada - damn it!
Amanda - how wonderful to be taken for your daughter's sister. I was once taken for Hayley from Coronation Street! I wish that was a joke, really I do!
Have a great day everyone.
C xx
Hi all,
Missy - so glad date went well, I can't remember the last time I went on a date, it must have been nearly 15 years ago! There's nothing quite like that feeling when you first like someone is there?
Chris - saw you playing the piano on the TV last night, I thought "Oh there's Chris, i must text him and tell him I've seen him", and then I remembered I don't actually know you! Sorry if that sounds a bit stawkerish, i think it says a lot about the way you write on here.
I've been baking all morning as we're going to my nannie's tomorrow to celebrate my mum's birthday which is today. I always try to take lots of goodies with me so my nan doesn't have to do anything (she's 81 and I think it's time for her to put her feet up). The problem is I'm behind on my paperwork now, so think i might have to miss Neighbours and Doctors this afternoon to get on top of it (what a sad case I am - I've got a bit of a thing for Doctors Nick and Jimmy I'm afraid!).
Gingembre - have a fab holiday, we'll miss you on here.
Have a great weekend everyone else,
Em xx
Well TFI Friday, thass all I can say!
Gingembre - have a wonderful hols and cheeeeeell
Missy - so glad the date went well and oo-er, you can't beat a good puckerin' up - well done you!!!!!
Hazel - am thrilled to big bits that yer pooter is behaving itself and that you're back with us. But now that we've got you back you're going off on yer hols ........ mind you, if anyone deserves a break it's you xx
Debbie - my sympathies with the Boiler Man situation. Over the recent Bank Hol weekend we didn't have any hot water from the Wednesday evening until the following Tuesday morning. I'm only glad the weather wasn't that good ....... anyhoo, hopefully the house will be less like the tropics very soon!!
And fish finger sarnies .... oh yes please! As a child I used to put a couple of fish fingers, plus beans, plus chips onto one slice of fresh white bread, add ketchup liberally, and then put another slice of bread on the top. Ooh, and then the butter would melt and ............. no wonder I've never looked like Twiggy!
Enid Blyton - I've got all the Famous Five books, the 'Mystery of' series, and some very old hardback books of hers that my aunt left me - they have been well read over the years and I still read them now. The biography of her life, written by her daughter, makes interesting reading too.
Sorry - I've gone on a bit haven't I?! Have a good Friday one and all,
jillygoat xx
Hello again,
Don't want to be here at work today.
Just been on the phone to mobile phone company as they have been overcharging me so getting a refund, brilliant news there.
The boiler people won't talk to me, keep telling me to phone back shortly. Meanwhile the heating is pumping through my house. Not impressed.
Now my boss has just called to make sure I'm here as delivery people left him a message saying there no one was picking up the phone here. Turns out that he gave them the wrong number!!!!
Amanda, hope that you had a good birthday. You reminded me that two years ago in a major supermarket they had started this 'Think 21' scheme when it came to selling alcohol. I was doing a big shop and was trying to buy a bottle of wine and the cashier refused to sell it to me.
Then she called over the supervisor as I insisted that I speak to someone, the supervisor agreed that she wasn't sure that I was over 21. I was 32 years old!!! Unbelievable. I was delighted of course but I didn't get my bottle of wine.
Better get on with some work now I suppose. Hope you are all having a good day.
Debbie x
Missy!!! Go girl! So glad it went well - roll on Sunday.
Enid Blyton. Love her work. Wanna know a secret? I still have ALL the Enid Blyton books I had as a gal.. Famous Five, Secret Seven, Mallory Towers, St. Clares... Those were the days!
Fish finger sarnies are brill. I like them made with wholemeal bread, mayonnaise and lettuce!
CLP - I'm afraid I completely lost track of your musings!
Clodagh - can't believe I missed your Gobsmackers! I'll listen again tonight!
Really super day yesterday. Best Boy was chuffed to bits with the whole day - a very, very good result for me!
Later,
S xx.
I shall consider myself told off then. Hayley.
I look a bit like Annie Lennox. I shall be playing up to this whilst in foreign climes, and am practising my Scottish lilt whilst typing.
Gingembre, if you get to Ibiza Old Town, go to the Madagascar Bar. Tiny, a bit seedy, but one of the best welcomes you'll get. I lived on the White Isle for a whisle...all a very long and tedious story, but then, it got me where I am now! Rambling mainly. Have a lovely time. I shall wave at you from Rhodes!
There must be an angel
love

x
ps Debbie, possibly a stupid question, but you haven't got a window open near your thermostat, which would keep the heating on as it's feeling cold?
pps Missy. The rumour mill is all that keeps some people going. They have sad lives if that is all they have to think about. Kissy Missy!
Tinsel...especially for you...
x
Hi Hazel, not a stupid question at all. I have been known to do stupid things!
Thermostat is down to zero at the moment and the heating itself is off if you know what I mean. No lights on the box on the wall. Not very technical I know but that's the best that I can explain it. Mr Debbie has gone home now and has disconnected the boiler. We have an african grey parrot at home and he is probably the happiest he has ever been right now!
When I tried to call this man again he was so rude that I called Mr Debbie and asked him to try. He was rude to him too. He said it couldn't possible be anything that the engineer did yesterday. How does he know, he didn't even leave a job sheet? Not looking good is it?
Checked out reviews on this company and the last post was from a gentleman that had to take them to the small claims court.
Well if life was easy it would be dull wouldn't it.
Love Debbie x
PS. Bingo, how is it going through the chilled section today. Wait until you get to the Iceberg Lettuce and then Plum Tomatoes and there's no Spring in those Onions x
Thanks for the comments with the date, seeing him sunday! Yippee! Oh his name is Martyn by the way.
Now listening to Kate Nash. 'You said I must eat so many lemons, coz I am so bitter. Well I'd rather be with your friends mate, coz they are much fitter' is the song line of the year. Last year was 'There was a little old lady struggling along carrying bags from Tesco and people eating outside in the park, I belive that is called al fresco!' By Lily Allen.
Whoo hoo its friday, love to you all, kissy missy! xx
Hazel i Love you!!!!!!!
Phwoarrrrrrrr, he really is a gorgeous devil isn't he??????

Hi Chris
Only just started reading your blog, but have been listening to the show for ages and love it, makes driving a pleasure!!
Love the blog too. However, you lost me on this one, kept with it though case something interesting came up and then fish finger sandwiches - good man and then peas and beans can't get much better than that.
Got so excited it prompted me to comment
(never done that before!)
Starving going to find me some fish fingers!
Debsx
Debbie - tell the boiler people that you'll forward your gas bill to them when it arrives!
Hope you get yer plumbing sorted soon.
Glad you're getting some money back from your mobile phone company - that's a miracle in itself! It's also worth ringing the credit card companies and asking them if they can either reduce or freeze the interest on your cards ..... I've done this before and it really helps to reduce the outstanding amount.
Anyway, I'm glad you are sounding happier and good luck
jillygoat xx
Thanks Jillygoat, we checked out the Money Expert website and the advice there was to move the balance from existing cards to a 0% interest card. We plan to do that but still make the payments that we have been so far to clear it quicker. Mr Debbie seems quite happy with that idea. I read that if you reduce payments or freeze interest on credit cards then it can affect your credit rating in the future.
I hope that we are doing the right thing, you can only try....
Debbie xx
