THE BOSS IN BARCELONA AND THE WIFE HAS STARTED TO SMELL OF MILK.
Springsteen in Barcelona, two grand all told, was it worth it ?
Bloody right, every penny and the rest. He was awesome and get this...
Going to see rock concerts in guaranteed hot and sunny and laid back and sexy and beautiful cities is the way forward.
We only did it this time because we missed him in the U.K. But seriously, no more, take a chance on the weather and traffic jam aftermath Brit gigs for us. We were there due to providence but thousands of other Brits were there 'cos they know, this is the best way ! I think we met every single one of them.
PICTURE THE SCENE.
A hot and balmy night in Barca. 110,000 semi naked human beings, some beautiful, some not so, some with big bellies, others bald, breasts gone south several albums ago, but all with only one thing on their minds... The Boss, the greatest living musical entertainer on the planet. Bruce comes on at 10.00 (love that!) and immediately shifts into top gear. Zero messing about. His shirt is drenched with sweat within five minutes. It stays that way for the next three and a half hours. He stays on stage until 1.30 IN THE MORNING !!!!! No local council telling him if he goes on past 10.30 they'll confiscate his private jet and throw away the key.
Hardly any police inside the stadium, babies held aloft to receive the blessing of the prodigal son of rock and roll, only joy.
Honestly, it was the nuts.
I have more but it will all have to wait.
In the meantime, if you go to a foreign city, whatever you do, don't hire a car, I'll tell you why tomorrow. It could change your life.
CLP.

Saw The Boss in May in London and yes, he was beyond AWESOME! But coming on at 10pm and playing til 1 in the morning.... rock and roll baby!!
In London he was on stage just before 8, and played for about 3 hours but as you say, the Clipboard Brigade put ridiculous finish times on gigs - not to mention our cruddy public transport network. We saw him on 31st May - and got caught up in all the loons invading the underground for "one last drink" before Boris's booze embargo came in at midnight that very night. Never seen such chaos - the "system" (is there one?) just couldn't cope. Stations were closed and tubes not stopping at main network rail stations. Brilliant when you need to get back to Suffolk.
Anyhooo, great to have you back - Richard did a fair job in your absence but ARF just wasn't the same without you. And Sally. and Johnny. And Foxy .....

Great to have you back.
I thought I'd missed something when you mentioned your good lady and the milk. Then I read the title of this latest missive (having omitted to read it before). That was always my problem at school: I learnt by rote what was underneath the title - but didn't read the title, so didn't know what the bit I had learnt belonged to, which, of course, rendered it, pretty useless.
What a great picture you paint of the gig. I am a bit of an armchair traveller myself (won't go into why that is), and, I tell you what, your description rivals stories told by my fave travellers, including the wonderful, Mr Michael Palin. I went to a book signing of his in Reading last year and he asked me if I travelled much. I said I had been an armchair traveller for many years but that I was progressing....at which point he interjected with perfect comedic timing, and said 'what, progressing onto a stool!'!
Anyway, back to the milk thing, so that, in true Palin-style, we go 'full circle'......it's all part of the pre-babe preparations, I'm sure.
Gingembre - I would be happy if Roy signs you up, my friend; it may mean he keeps his black cat mitts off our Irish contigent!!!!
