Family at work day 2

Chris Evans | 15:09 UK time, Wednesday, 15 April 2009

Guess what? Noah's here again...

...mummy and tot at work, daddy mad busy, so Noah currently being passed around all the clucky girls in the office like the human the parcel of joy that he is. Everyone he looks at instantly shines a whole new smile.

team_noah512.jpg

Ab fab here in town, the mist has risen, and the sun is a-beating down for all it's worth. It couldn't be any hotter for time of year.

Been in meetings all day. One was a meeting about meeting, now that's a meeting none of us need in our lives.

Have no idea what's on the show thus far in the day, so need to go and find out the "skinny," driver slang for the low down about the show down.

Oh and by the way, I was at Stanford Bridge last night, what a bloomin' blinkin' rollercoaster of emotion that was. Football was the winner as well as alas Chelsea. Stevie Gerrard turned round after the final whistle and very calmly said,

"That's football!"

That's why he is a legend.

God bless all those at Anfield today for the Hillsborough 20th anniversary, first song tonight is for you guys.

X.X.X.

Here's Noah, nine weeks and already at work, running the show:

    Afternoon each

Chris, don't gorgeous babies bring out the best smiles from everyone? Glad you've got the sun, we've still got the mist up here in Northland, and drizzle. Bums.

Nicki, Joe, Mr. Tiggs, and everyone else suffering from this awful redundancy: good luck, hope something good comes out of it for you all.

Just read on the Scottish news that That Bridge will have to have all its heavy-duty nuts removed because they've found nine cracked ones!!!! There's a joke there somewhere Deev/Bingo/DD.

    Back later folks. xxxxx

    Chris,

I feel your pain about meetings. And I've been in meetings to discuss whether we should have a meeting....ahhhhhhhhhhhh.

    The little one looks fab....

    Good quote by Stevie G........

    Great game for the neutral!!!!

    Afternoon Chris

Lovely pic - especially catching Noah looking up at you like that!!

BTW Chris - great band on Sunday night, really enjoyed them- great atmosphere.

Penny - is it that warm outside? Difficult to tell with an air conditioned office - I'm cold!

  • Comment number 9.

    Chris,

Lovely to see that photograph - how happy is everyone?! Noah is just a gorgeous wee thing - well, not as wee as he was of course!

As for the football last night - couldn't leave the telly for a minute - so exciting. I don't think I could have coped watching it in the stadium!

And, yes, my thoughts are also with the families of the Hillsborough disaster - no words can really help, but perhaps thoughts and prayers can. xx

    Afternoon Chris,

Lovely photo of the boy and the gang. What a cutie.

I'd quite like to have a meeting, at least I would get to talk to someone. In the office all alone today and the rest of the week. It is very quite, no emails or phone calls. I've even done my filing I'm that bored!

Great game last night, being a Chelsea fan it was the right result for me, but I was on the edge of my seat, it soooooo could have gone either way.

Thoughts and prayers definitely with those families of the Hillsborough disaster today xx

Darce, Although the sun is not bright it is pleasantly warm for mid April, and certainly much better than we have had - but don't think it's set to last! Know what you mean re air conditioning, but wouldn't be without it - certainly in the car!!

    Afternoon Bondy.

Hello MizzDarcey. How is your day going?

  • Comment number 14.

    Afternoon peeps

Not been on line for a few days so catching up.

I've just watched the documentary about Hillsborough and it made me cry. I recall it unfolding on tv - it was unbelievable. Someone I worked with went out with a young man who died - I can still remember finding out about it at the office on the Monday.

Everyone so dignified about it when they recount their memories.

Lets hope nothing like it ever happens again.

    Crumpy x

  • Comment number 15.

Hope it lasts a bit after 5 then Pen!

Morning Bondy, glad its not too bad in NY as well.

Ali, I'm on my own as well in the office a lot of the time so I know how you feel it can be a lonely day! Been thinking and reading about Hillsborough and what the families must be going through today.

    Darce xx

  • Comment number 16.

Hi Darce..... but you're not alone.... you've got us bloggers here for company.....

  • Comment number 17.

I know Bond and you're all great company!

Crumpy - very humbling watching that documentary. I remember it well and when you think that in those days not many people had mobiles, so waiting for news and not knowing about relatives and friends involved must have been awful.

    Darce xx

  • Comment number 18.

Didn't see the documentary but I do remember it too. Truly awful. Can't believe its 20 years.

  • Comment number 19.

    Afternoon one at all,

back in Blighty after a brief Easter sojourn to the middle east, Abu Dhabi and Dubai - just waiting for the next bird to take me across the Irish Sea to Home sweet home - looks like I havent missed too much, looking back at Tash's lil' white runaround haas madde me all green with envy . . .

So, all well with the posse by the looks of it . . hope you all had a nice long weekend.

UAE is a true wonder to dehold - 35 degrees, full of Porsche jeeps - all white - and the maddest driving I have ever seen. Alcohol is restricteed to hotels only so all the expats are "social memebesrs" of the local Hilton, Inter-con, whatever . . but the biggest waake-up is the hassle it take to get the simplest thing done - like booking a taxi, for example - firstly you ring the cab company, they then ring a driverr, you ring the company back who then agree to give you a driver's number, then you wait, get frustrated and end up chasing the driver on his mobile for another endless meandering of calls - but anyway...

Dubai was something else - they have 2 replica Chrysler Building skyscrapers side-by-side, just to show those yanks. The hotel we were at had an attached water park, was right by the sea (opposite the World Series of Islands) and even the sand on its beach was rumourmed to be cooled underneath by sheets of ice (my friend spotted Ms. Gascoigne among the guests) . . .

Anyway, update done, must run, Belfast & home and my own wee bed awaits . . .

I remember it well too. I had just played hockey when the news came through. The father of one of the club members had gone to the game and it took ages before she could get it confirmed that he was safe and well.

My thoughts are with all the people touched by this dreadful tragedy.

  • Comment number 21.

Dan, that reminds of a job I had years ago. Working for a recruitment firm in Edinburgh, which recruited for the Gulf.

We used the machine you typed instant messages on (can't remember the name of it) and we always started with 'Is anyone there?'. We often got the reply 'No'.

    How do.

The thermometer in my car told me gleefully that it reached 22 degrees here today, while driving back from work. Lush.

I remember Hillsborough too. I said to Errol yesterday that I think it was the first news that I took an interest in, due to my tender age at the time.

DD, thanks for your concern over Errol. He will be ok. The meds appear to be warding off the sudden outbursts of tears, but not touching the nervous twitch in his leg.

he must be medicated as after the game last night he stated that he would now put all of his effort into supporting Arsenal.

    MW, a!

Chris - WHAT is the guy to your left (our right!) looking at?!! I hope it is Noah and not that you have toilet roll stuck to you're shoe!

Here is a question for you all - Scaphoid - plaster or not to plaster?

I fell from a horse YEARS and YEARS ago and had suspected fracture of above wrist bone - and told Ahh well! here have a velcro splint. This week some one else fell "staved" their wrist - Local minor injuries - Ahh well! major sprain - tooby grip. Local Doctor - A and E - Stooky for 6 weeks

    Typical!

I spend the day being accused of waking up the ladies in their beds overnight and then .......

I had a conference call with the USA at 5pm (I do it so they miss their lunch ;-o) so I missed the first song (I had guessed what it would be).
I also missed other "references" so I am slightly miffed.

Perhaps someone could update me on Faceache

Hi y'all. Like others I thought today was going to be the hottest day of the year, we ended up freezing, scurrying from one tower to another at Tutbury Castle, which is built on the highest, most exposed hill this end of the stratosphere. Now back in Ruggers and it's gorgeous, hope it lasts till tonorrow.

Lovely pictures of the baby DJ, thanks Chris.

Now then, can someone tell me what Chris said about blog spats (not splats as I just typed, although maybe that's just as good a word)? And did Ripples get a mensh?

Rips, I know you're staying away, but I'd love an update on the Blur/Birthday situation!

Off for a stroll to Sainsboro Local to select some local produce. Or is that not how it works?

    Hi Chris & tash

How lovely to have such smashing pictures of Noah. You don't know how great it is us bloggers to see pic's of Noah. Most people in the public eye, will only sell photo's to mag's, for loads of money. Show is as great as ever.

  • Comment number 52.

I was listening to the show on my mobile while I was out at lunchtime (well it was lunchtime for me). I was great just like being back in blighty except everyone here drives on the wrong side of the road...LOL

  • Comment number 53.

I don't comment often... but CLP what wonderful perspective you have given today...

    A beautiful baby boy...

A pragmatic Stevie G (glorious legs on that man)!!

And Hillsborough - the great Shanks got it wrong after all and football isn't more important than live or death!

Am surrounded by babies (well virtually anyway) Best buddy had ickle girl 3 weeks ago, friend from Uni had a ickle boy last week, 3 months early - all doing well so far and still waiting for two more to make an appearance........

My little man didn't have his after lunch snooze today as being at grandparents just too exciting, but I turned round while getting his tea ready at 4.30 and the poor little mite had fallen asleep sitting in his playpen.....I managed to catch him just before he went head first into the floor......

Had my interview - didn't get it - hey hum, not sure it was right for me anyway........

Off to clear hurricane toddler up

Evening all just popping in for a short while inbetween getting in and going out - its volleyball training night and I needed to do the agenda for next week's RNLI meeting.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

What a lovely sunny weekend we had and I even went up in the Weston Wheel 40m high and it was lovely to see the beach from that height.

Had fish and chips by the old pier at sunset watching all the lights on the welsh coast gradually light up.

Managed two swimming sessions and had a wonderful experience at the Sat evening vigil in church. Picture dark church, candles in hands and a few strategically placed tea lights on the cross and altar. Spooky but cosy.

Shared my mini eggs with work colleagues.

Hope everyone is well and sorry to hear of those not well or in need. You have my sympathy.

Rightio off to get changed. Still no mobile sign on so hence being constantly awol.

Hey Chris, lots of love to you Tash and Noah, he is looking beautiful, he is beginning to look more like his Daddy although I am not sure I know what Tash looks like! Is that Tash holding Noah in the 'team Noah' pic? If so I still think he looks more like you, still never mind, he has years to grow out of it! Just kidding I promise!!!

    Thanks for the new pic.

All my love and warm wishes to the people of Hillsborough, I remember watching it on the news like it was yesterday, horrendous.

Now here's the weird thing. When I got out the first time, I craved crisps and all things salty. This time, all I want is salad and all things fresh and juicy (oo er!!).

    What's all that about??

Anyway, on 4 diff types of antibiotics for another week, so confined to home - not too bad if the weather is like it was today!!!

A very quick hello as life is very hectic at the moment.

Chris - a truly sublime, subliminal show and the start brought emotions to the surface. My thoughts go out to all those touched by the Hillsborough tragedy.

Have to disappear off for the moment. Wanted to say I admire all you bloggers who manage to keep up to speed. I can do multi-tasking but have yet to get a true handle on multi-blog tasking. So please forgive me if I haven't answered posts or said hello at times - its purely unintentional.

    Lovely pic of Noah.

Aw Christoff what a little stunner little Noah.

As Renee's just said, 'Aah look at 'im bless 'im. You could slap a crust on 'im couldn't you.'

I think that means utterly scrumptious.

Well now, we've just been taking in the lovely view from our window, Conwy castle to the left, lovely sunset to the right, and reflecting on what lucky girls we are. Not least because we're in each other's company, much as we may bicker and take the p**s outa each other.

And as she's installed on the sofa, nodding like summat on the back shelf of a Morris Minor, I'm realising that this is a bitter-sweet experience.

Renee has always loved Llandudno. But this is the first time without her bessy mate Aunty Dot, and as I look at her now I'm feeling really sad. She's frail now; strong in spirit as always, but frail nonetheless. And although she drives me right round the bend, up the wall and back to distraction, I realise that the chances are she won't be around forever, and so I cherish this time I have with her.

And so, on this day, can I extend my heartfelt kind wishes to all those people from my neck of the woods who, 20 years ago, lost loved ones without the chance to reflect as I have done today.

Thankyou, Christoff, for that first tune today. It will have meant a lot.

Good vibes to everyone. Especially those of us on antibiotics, Tins bless yous.

Normal silly service will resume as soon as possible.

    Anyway.

Just had a text from Baz.

' Is the heating off, petal.'

So I've sent back the following.

'Of course it is. The fire officer says it's not safe to light the pilot light yet anyway till the smell of gas has disappeared. Anyway, there's no point what with the hole in the roof and the window blown out. Mind you it might have dried the carpet out and got rid of the smell of sick from the sofa Damian was sleepin on. Renee will get the hairdryer on it tomorrow. Don't you be worryin'.'

He hasn't replied yet. I hope he hasn't fainted.

Oh Christoff ... my hormones are still all over the place so pics of babies make me cry! I'm at work - I'm supposed to be professional - I'm getting my photo taken shortly and my mascara is runnning!!! He is so gorgeous! And look at the way he's watching you in the top shot! Aww!

Do you find yourself just gazing at him for hours on end, with a dafty smile on your face?! I do that with both my girls, but get lip for it now from the four year old!

Caught bits and bobs of the show (great show btw!) earlier - had to guffaw at your wee quip about tittle tattle and not getting involved! Have to say, was thinking about it all on and off today ... but biting my tongue! Ouch!

Anyway, here comes a body - offski I go!

    Huggles

Evening you gorgeous bunch of bloggers! How are you all this fine Wednesday!? Have I missed anything??

Eb - what age is your wee one? Our 6 month old woke at 7.30am today and was still on the go when I headed to work at 1.30pm - she's her sister all over! *sighs*

Annie - roll on 6th June! Woo-hoo!! Highland lad says to me today, 'Why is 6th June marked as Aviemore?' I gave him THE look - no, not that one ... yup, THAT one ... then he remembered! We can't stay over now, but will still be through!!

Oh, gotta go - another body coming in!

Tinsel - hope you feel better soon honey! Huggles!

Can I just confirm that I do not work in a mortuary, as my previous posts seem to infer when I read them back! I'm in addiction and homelessness services!

    Hi Susan..

The boy is 17 months, but like his father he loves his sleep! Goes for a good 12 / 13 hours at night, and usually an hour in the afternoon...
And the days I'm at work, I have to wake him up in the morning - the dirty look I get!

But since he found his feet when he is awake, he's moving.....usually running in circles giggling to himself, don't know if I could cope with two of him!!

    Text from Baz.

Now then petal. How lucky are you. Malcolm and Brenda (possibly the most boring couple on earth) are over at the Quay hotel with their oliday snaps. I've told them you will meet them and take them back to the house. Is that ok.

    My reply.

Oh dear what a shame. I'd love to spend a happy 5 hours looking at photos but I'm holding the ladder for Damian while he repairs the chimmeney pot and fixes the hole in the roof. The good news is that the fire works now as the chimmeney is unblocked, and it's only the lounge that's got the soot. And the hall. And the kitchen. Sofa doesn't smell of sick now, it's masked by burn from the hairdryer and the horse blanket looks very nice over the scorch mark. I'll leave the front door open when I go out tomorrow to air it out, although the broken window and the open roof will do the trick, don't worry. PS. Where did you get the plasma TV from.
