So this is an e mail conversation...

Chris Evans | 10:00 UK time, Wednesday, 29 July 2009

...that I had with my good friend and colleague Hells Bells of Hull early this morning, whilst running my pencil over the almost final final edit of my book that has to go off to the printers in the next four weeks or so.

From Hells after a night at the theatre with my agent:

Good morning my lovely.
Ìý
Your agent is officially barking. But then so am I. And so are you. I think that's probably why it all rubs along so nicely.
Ìý
In other news, Media Guardian have helpfully de-coded your golf dream for you.
Ìý
Brace yourself...
Ìý
"To dream that you are decapitated, indicates that you are not thinking clearly and are refusing to see the truth. You need to confront the situation or the person despite the pain and discomfort you might feel in doing so. The dream also suggests that you have the tendency to act before you think."

From me in reply:

Morning chick chick. We are indeed all mad - not a single one of us sane. How can we be ? Life is not conducive to such a state of being. None of us asked to be born yet after finding ourselves here and realising what a blast it is, many of us end up begging not to have to leave. And then on other days we might wonder what all the fuss is about in the first place and why we can't do a wee !

As it goes, you and The Agent are undoubtedly amongst the maddest but that's probably because you value life as much if not more than a lot of other folks. Those who don't wonder don't win; and you two for all your frailties, paranoia, energy and brilliance are two people I wouldn't swap for anyone else any day of the week for one second of my life.

Oops I can feel my head about to fall off again.

X.

Apparently this made the poor girl well up...and all on a wet Wednesday morning as well.

    CLP!

I have welled up on many occassion due to the lovely words of an email, oft typed off the cuff, without prior planning. Which is why the words read on the screen mean so much.

    You know what I mean!

    Morning peeps!
Deevs, I'm the same but being soppy as I am it doesn't take a lot to make me well up anyway!

CLP, good to see you back and on form, can't wait for the biog to be published!

Another thing Deevs, have you finished Dear Fatty?

ugh, just finished my breakfast sausage butty, went to lick ketchup off my fingers only to rememeber that I still had alcohol hand wash on from docs visit..............

  • Comment number 4.

    Morning Chris,

There is nothing like a bit of welling up on a wet Wednesday ;) Sometimes it's nice to know that you are loved and appreciated.

I'd like to steal a quote from my favourite TV programme Grey's Anatomy.....

"Did you say it?, I love you.. I don't ever wanna live without you. You changed my life. Did you say it? Make a plan. Set a goal. Work toward it. But every now and then, drink it in, cause this is it, it might all be gone tomorrow."

We should all make it our goal today to tell someone that we love them, perhaps someone that we wouldn't normally say it to. Go on say it!

Hurrah Now then Christoff. As I always say, That's MY head just fell off again.

See. The brightest, most creative inspirational and intelligent people I know are totally, utterly and marvellously bonkers.

And I agree. As the DDF Eric used to say. The chap who never made any mistakes never made anything.

Continue to slay your dragons, my friend. It's your fearlessness that holds my admiration, you big daft eejit.

Fear, you see, is the ultimate enemy of creativity.

I love you too AliB! And you Tiggs!

Still reading Dear Fatty - I only tend to read at bedtime so books can take ages!! I've got 3 on the go at the mo - read whichever one to suit my mood.

I think email and text has actually brought the art of writing back to the forefront. I know that people say it is a very inpersonal way of communicating but when you see an email like that, there is no longer an argument for the inpersonal side. It is back to the old days of letter writing just electronically.

I too have received emails like that and it is wonderful to hear lovely words that you dont always get to hear when you just rub along without a hitch. There is nothing like a bit of appreciation from those around you, especially when you have such a good team like yours Christos.

  • Comment number 10.

And just so'd you don't feel left out ..... love you too Mr Evans xx

as my cat has just decided he needs my attention, I shall proclaim to all of blogland, i love you Rufus!!!

I am terribly bad at telling people I love them - other then Mr bp who I tell every day - I am also bad at telling people how much they mean to me.

Luckily for me I have some very understanding friends and family!

  • Comment number 13.

..And speakin' a dragons, am off now to launch a surprise attack on Sainsbury's with Renee and Joan. Renee needs some suet and gravy browning, a good rummage through the cabbages and to check the sliced loaves for asylum-seekers, and Joan is fully psyched-up and heavily armed with a receipt which proves beyond all legal doubt that she was overcharged for the 3 for 2 Toilet Duck.

    Where's me stun-gun.

I have 3 on the go too, 2 chick lit (Cecilia Ahern and Belinda Jones) and one thriller (Tess Gerritsen), Mr Tiggs can't understand how I can keep up with 3 at once! Depends on my mood which one I grab but mostly not thriller while he is working in Londinium and therefore not in the bed with me!

love you too Deevs and CLP (which goes without saying!!!)

  • Comment number 15.

    Morning all!

It is so lovely when you get an unexpected message from someone that triggers that 'welling up' thing. I have had many in recent months.

I think that we find it easier to focus on negatives and criticism so when we're told something so nice and heartfelt it often comes as a surprise. It's important to remember that people see as differently to how we see ourselves sometimes.

I have learned so much about me to be honest that I see myself totally different now. But I am still me, just with a healthier outlook. Mostly!

Back to the important business of baking bread now....busy, busy, busy!

sbp, I'm a bit like that too. I think I tell my best friend that I love her more than I tell my Mum & Dad, although I always say it to them just as I am about to get on a plane!!

Hi Chris, great blog today - how lovely it would be to receive an email from you! And, Chris, you may want to check out the previous blog and read Ian Wallace's interpretation of your dream.

Clodagh: also at the end of the previous blog, Ian Wallace has sent a reply to you!

Baggy: re: telling people you love them. Isn't it incredible that we can tell our partner - a complete stranger who comes into our life - that we love them - but we can't say it to our own family?! I was exactly the same, but when I reached about 30 I decided that I really must tell my mum and dad how much I loved them. They were so embarrassed the first time - they had never told any of their children that they loved them. But, it got easier and easier and I am so grateful that when they died, we all knew how much we loved each other. But ... I know, it's not easy to say!

I may as well join in with the love fest too ..... I love you all!

    Morning CLP and bloggeroonies

Lovely words Christophe. Me, I well up on numerous occasions, be it words, films, inc wildlife where animals get hurt, I know its nature, but I still get upset! Then there's tears of happiness, weddings etc. I'm just a soppy old s*d!!

Clodagh - I can relate to your post #119 regarding privacy, I have a recurring dream about wanting to go to the loo and only finding ones that are VERY public with either glass walls or no door! I think this is all about protecting my privacy and maybe this is the reason I want to remain anonymous on here. I also have nothing to hide but a little bit of me wants to hold back, Who knows, I may change my views in the future and come and meet some of you. I hope so!

I know I don't tell enough people I love them, I think that stems from early childhood, I knew I was loved but I don't recall my parents being over affectionate and that obviously rubbed off.

Ebb - v pleased for you.

Debs - back to your old self....marvellous!

    I LOVE YOU ALLxxx

pee ess Beez - It's me with hard floors, but not the clickety laminate stuff, only the best for me......oh yes!!!! An absolute boon when you have kiddies running in and out, no nagging about taking shoes off and so easy to clean!!! But I do appreciate carpets have their comfort!

Hey clp and all bloggers and blogettes

On the dream theme and madness thought I'd just post the first few lines of Kipling's 'If'....

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
    But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or, being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or, being hated, don't give way to hating,
    And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise;

    If you can dream - and not make dreams your master;
    If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with triumph and disaster
    And treat those two imposters just the same;
If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken
Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,
Or watch the things you gave your life to broken,
    And stoop and build 'em up with wornout tools;

A classic poem for young and old....

    love to all out there,

    Afternoon all dudes!

Baggy, the first thing I did when I started here was put my Russell Beand pix on my wall. I also have a Lucien Freud print, various ticket stubs to keep me smiling by remembering the good times, a calendar which I customise every month (July = Take That), pix of sootycat, pix of me and Mr Deev in our Rocky Horror finery and a pic of Hectors House (are you too young to remembererer Hector and Lady Zsa Zsa?) On my desk I have a pic of sootycat in a silver sparkly frame, and a pic of Mr Deev, and a Bhudda, and a witch.

My justification is that it's my space and I spend so many hours here I want my environment to reflect me. Which it does.

Now listen up chaps. What was the show where at the end, the glamorous big bird (I think she was called Janet) used to stand at the top of the steps, usually in a Jane Russell-style frock with the puddins boilin' right over, spread the arms out and declare,

    "I LOVE YOU ALL"... ?

Cause that's ME. Hurrah am in the frock as we speak with next door's parrot on me head.

    I LOVE YOUS ALL. Ha.

Any road. Have just returned from Sainsbury's. And not content with dealin' with Renee and Joan givin' the Taliban a run for their money, committin' unspeakable acts against the Warburton's thick sliced and fightin' over the last lettuce, have had to face a large wasp in the kitchen upon our return. I say face it; the downdraught from its rotor blades blew me hair all over me face and nearly pinned me to the fridge door. Luckily Renee's Bits & Bobs drawer was open next to me so I was able to grab the chain-saw and fend it off with a 6-er to the boundary before Renee got it in a headlock and knocked it out with the rollin' pin.

Now all we need is to dispose of the body. Anybody know if Wigan Council will take it in a rolled-up carpet fastened up with hairy string. (Also courtesy of the B&B drawer). It's not still buzzin'. I've checked.

Wasp week. I'll ruddy say it is.

In my car however, I have a little bear, called Alton Katanga Towers (why I hear you ask) because when I did Yoof Work, we took the kids to Alton Towers (other theme parks are available and just as pricey!!) and they won him by throwing something at something at the place where the Katanga ride was - so now hopefully it all makes sense as to why his called that!!

Strangely enough, or maybe not - my name is from my little green beany character that I was given as a little girl. He fitted snugly in my hand and I went to sleep with him every night. He was small enough to be taken everywhere and so duly was. Unfortunately, I have mislaid him now but suspect that I will come across him again at some point in the future when sorting out things. I miss him now though.

Talking of weather, heard on the raydeo 'smornin that the met office are playing down their forecast last April for a scorching summer, saying the media hyped it up. Errr, wot's that all about, talk about passing the buck. Anyhoo they say that August will now be wet as well. With all their so called technology why do they get it sooooo wrong!!! Not worth listening to IMHO best take each day as it comes!!

Ah tanks Penny and Beany, it was indeed. I didn't think it was till you said Janet Webb; hahaha I can see her now. Am in a right mad jealous rage now, I wanta frock like hers. Mind you if I got that gig I'd be descendin' said stairs less Stately as a Galleon than like Norman Wisdom.

That's a funny thing too.. does anybody else watch these award shows through the fingers as various lovelies descend the shiny stairs? I can't bear it. I remember watching Rebecca Adlington come down that ramp at the Sportsman of the Year whatsit in the Jimmy Choos. With one eye shut.

As for Finlay, JG, not for nothing is the expression used, "A face like a bulldog chewin' a wasp"...

    Afternoon all,

I would like to say I love you all.

on my desk is a picture of my boys, buy my screen saver is all the pictures of the family

My desktop picture is of my boys as well.

My eldest who is six has a scruffy cat who he takes everywhere with him and had him since he was 2 and was bought in Menorca. it has been on every holiday since then and looks all scrawny and slightly pathetic as half the stuffing has gone due to countless encounters in the washing machine.

We now have got one for our youngest which is quite new and currently clean, I hope he takes after his brother and takes him everywhere and in years to come is as scruffy as my eldests.

    and breathe.

    sorry for long post.

cant you feel the love in the room, hit me baby one more time.

    Nick.

    Afternoon each

Will someone please turn on the sun...? this water lark has been coming down since the middle of the night and its getting boring now..

Lovely blog CLP.. made me think (thats what that low buzzing noise is that you could all hear!).

I dont say I Love You often enough to anyone. In fact, and this is prob NOT the place to confess this(!) but i have never told the GM..nor him me. Now we both know we love each other to bits but have just never said the words. On my part its only cos im a stubborn cow and wont say it first..and i suspect he is the same..both flaming Virgos!Wee been together 2 and a half years and its never really bothered me to be honest cos i know how he feels..it is shown in other ways, and he KNOwS I love him loads, but this has made me think and i am going to tell him the minute he walks through the door tonight.

On the other hand..at the end of any get together/phone call with my adorable 4yr old nephew we always finish with `loves ya`..always have and hopefully always will.

Anyhoos..on a lighter note..Loves Ya All! Thanks for being my friends and a great bunch of people..

..right..off to vac and change the bed now.. the fun never stops on a day off!

    Cute Nick aaaaaaa.

Scoobs don't do it - stay stubborn cos I bet all you will get back is either "ditto" or "you too" and not the full works!
Now where have I heard that before...........

  • Comment number 91.

Hee hee Beez... he is pretty good with words so i will prob get something lovely back but its principle! Said i wasnt going to and anyone who knows me well will know i never go back on my word..but i think i will make an exception this once! Maybe i need to mellow a bit! Watch this space!.

    Beez,
Dont be like that. It will stop Mr mSc in his tracks and I am sure will be much appreciated.

Mind you, everytime I tell Mrs T I love her she wonders what I have done that I feel so guilty about!!

Seriously though Scoobs. Feeling it is one thing being told it is a whole different feeling.

    Love to all

Go for it girl....I used to be a stubborn one, and now realise that the only person it holds back is yourself! Also a major factor in stubborness is 'fear', yes that old chestnut again, so grab the moment, seize it and enjoy it. Who knows where it may lead, but as the good man CLP says above, we have only a moment in time here on this planet, so give out the love...!

Thunder I think I have been married too long - my first reaction would be what brought that on. Actually to be honest that would be my second - the first would be to faint with shock!!!

Gwon then Scoobs - be young and foolish. See - I'm old - I can change my mind!!!! and I loved it when my nieces said love you auntie beez - they don't now -don't even get called auntie - just my first name! Hey ho.

Hi everyone: very interesting with the "I love you" situation! I said it first to MrS, probably about 6 months after we started dating. Of course, he did not say he loved me too, which left me a gibbering wreck! He did say it, like two days later, but I was still very hurt.

I now realise that due to the fact I was so young then (18) I didn't have a clue what love really is. It has taken me years and years to work it out. I love him more now than ever before - I used to think that was utter rubbish - but it is true. I know that this is his one and only life, and he's shared it with me. I hope he thinks it was worth it!

Love shows itself in so many different ways and whatever works for you, is ok. But being the person I am, I just have to actually say the words!!

Thanks Thunder..but Beez meant it tongue in cheek i know! And i HAVE been on the receiving end of that so know where she`s coming from!

But bless Mrs T.. i know a few woman like that..the next thing out their mouths is always.."why, what`ve you done?!". You guys cant always win can you bless your hearts!

Right..has ANYONE got any sun? and if so please send some to Gods own county (thats Yorkshire Nick BTW..apropos the confusion the other week!) and stop this bloody rain!

Aw Chrissie that brought a tear to my eye - that's lovely.
I am far too cynical for my own good!!

Would love to know how everyone got proposed to. It's got to beat my "spose we ought to get married then" (can't remember first one - dim and distant memory.

    mSc,

No sun here in Liverpool, we shall agree to disagree on gods own county.

we had a really bad rainstorm at lunch time and so much so that Liverpool city centre was very quiet as the wise ones decided to stay indoors in their warm, dry offices.

    Nick.

Chrissie - wise words and i`m sure he doesnt regret a second of the time.

    And Dreamur..thanks too..

I was proposed to (by the exhusband) with a `will you marry me?and if you say yes we`re off to EuroDisney`.. well I couldnt turn down Mickey Mouse could i?!

and who knows if there`s going to be a next time.. i hope so is all i can say!
