Greetings from inside my hooded dressing gown.

Chris Evans | 12:38 UK time, Wednesday, 4 November 2009

Nobody's any good by accident - that's today's subject. After being lucky enough to share a stage with The Jove last night, it once again became patently obvious to me that stand out talent cannot flower fully without the underpinning of downright hard work.

Were Bon Jovi really any good ?

Yes they bloomin' well were, in fact they were excellent. Like it was their first gig, more humble than an X Factor winner who's just survived the sing off, or whatever it is they call it.

The whole band were great but Tico the Tom Tom Torres was my man. He was awesome on the drums - magnificent. Though having said that, the whole band were on top form, even the mysterious man on acoustic guitar who wore his winter coat throughout the proceedings, he must have been roasting.

Will Carling took . So good it has made me want to upgrade my Raspberry to the same as his.

Listen you lot, have a great day and BE NICE TO EACH OTHER !!!

    Hey Chris!

I saw Bon Jovi a few years back at Wembers on the These Days Tour (Van Halen support - fab!!) and they were indeed amazing! Although I have to fess up to being more into their early stuff than the more recent releases.

Having said that, I think their ticket prices for the 02 gigs are a wee bit on the steep side. £85 for U2 was stretching it but the Jovi boys want even more than that .... noooooooooooooooooooo!

Gig sounded grand tho - was following on Twitter with interest!

Will be nice to everyone. Promise!

Morning Sir Christophe of Lamb Pie,

I was following your Tweets last night and thoroughly enjoy the banter between you and your fellow celebs.
It surprises me how many of those that you interact with I am already following - and have been way before you joined, honest....you can check!
My stalking hasn't reached the levels of stalking your mates aswell!!!

Bon Jovi - not my cup of cha, but glad to hear that they put in a performance for those that went.

Deev - does your excitement relate to the Sunday Times - RB article?
If it does - then that is hilarious!!!!

    You'll see why soon enough.

Hi Rips - yes it does. Tins sent it to me and I will love her forever, although the suggestion of my doing any work this afternoon after seeing the main cover pic is very remote indeed! Will savour the article later tonight, snuzzled down beneath me duvet.

Now, I'm having sushi for lunch. Nobody warned me about the wasabi ..... it's like raw horseradish!! If that don't shift the nasties orf me chestickles then I give up!

    Water .... now!

Hahahaha - Unbelievable Deev! Great minds Tins.......

Ooh by the by - I've just received me Russell Brand tickets for Sunday night at the Royal Albert Hall - They appear to be front row!!
I shall be instructing the CMM that it is a dress down occasion.

There are eight of us going and as much as I dis-like the idea, we are going in a Limo as it is the cheapest way to get 8 people in and out of London on a Sunday night without having to impose time restrictions on ourselves.
I am arranging to be collected and dropped off round the corner from both home and the r.a.h.

Glad you enjoyed the BJ gig Christoph, now get out of that hooded dressing gown and get yourself to broadcasting house for 1705!

    Hello to everyone else.

Gail, thoughts are with you (((xx))), I can imagine how you are feeling. We've lost varicose cats and each time it was enough to make a grown man cry, yes honestly, Mr P was beside himself, we've got 3 cats and a bunny buried in our garden, probably the reason we've lived here so long!

Sunny here in Surrey, long may it last!

Pen, who is being very nice!
    xx

  • Comment number 11.

Rips - that sounds fantabulous, you swine!

So am I going to get another set of Rusty pics in the post?!?!? Wayhey! I love you lot, really!!

I've just been looking at the Visit Liverpool website - so much I want to see when we're up there - probably for Sunday, having secured myself THE most amazing tour guide at the best possible price ....

Bingo .... can we do the Yellow Duckmarine .... pleeeeeeeeez!?!?!

And the Tate, and the Walker Gallery, and the Eleanor Rigby Bench and The Cavern and Mathews Street and Stanley Street .... but not the Birkenhead Transport Museum ....

    Good afternoon All,

Saw Bon Jovi a few years back at the Wolves stadium, my son was the big fan really, so went with him and they were excellent, a proper stadium rock band.

  • Comment number 20.

Mary - Liverpool is somewhere I have always wanted to visit, even before Brookside Close came into my life! I was pretty much weaned on the music of John, Paul, George and Ringo, and then in the 80s it was all about Echo & The Bunnymen, China Crisis, Dead Or Alive as well as many others. Lifelong muso, so very very excited about going to Liverpool.

And of course, meeting you lovely lot is an added bonus!

Ali - I love air travel, so don't envy you having to make that trip if you don't.
I know I keep banging on about it, but if you've got an eyepod - download some audiobooks to it. I've listened to Chris', Ken Bruce's and Jack Dee's recently whilst travelling up and down the country and the time absolutely whizzes past.
Jack Dee's is excellent btw, nearly as good as CLP's - definitely worth a go........once you've purchased Chris' naturally!

    Hi everyone:

Good grief, thought I would never get back on the blog - what a kerfuffle!

Just want to say to Gail: so sorry to her about Rolo - very upsetting for you and your husband. xx I genuinely was crying reading about Rainbow Bridge - I hope my wee cat Toots is playing there right now - I loved him so much!

MC: hope you get things resolved re: your mum-in-law. What a nightmare for her. Facing surgery is difficult enough, without all this hassle.

Rips: sounds like a fantastic night out. Have been to the Royal Albert Hall once (to see Level 42) and it was brilliant. What a place - falling apart in some parts, and utterly magnificent in others!

AliB: hope you are feeling better - have a really wonderful time in HK!

Chris: didn't get a chance to say the other day about your offers for CIN - they are incredible. The old lottery ticket is on today, so who knows what might happen?! Failing that, I will just have to listen in envy to those lucky enough to pledge the amount of money that will be required to secure a prize!

Love, Chrissie (who does try to be nice, but sometimes falls at the hurdle!)

    Hi chris,

    VERY envious about the Jove!!
I'm always nice to people, it's the only way I know to be, just most are not nice to me, even though they say 'I'm the kindest person the know'. Can't win!!

  • Comment number 85.

Oh, I forgot the vote too!

Definately the Red stuff, on almost everything, but a bit like CLP, when I have the brown, wonder why I don't more....but like the HP fruity version better than plain HP!

Think I need to be in work very, very early tomorrow to get home very, very early to let Finlay out before the fireworks start! Was a bit late home today due to the flooding etc!

Was going to swap cars to the 4WD effort, but decided it has no better clearance than mine, so better the devil you know, as it were....happy to have orange traction lighty thing come up, keeps the red SPS one company! LOL

Watchin Spooks but Bids - you are a sweetie - I thought about those service men and their families too.

If it's any consolation to those who think things happen in three's - that's it for this year with bloggers - as in three unexpected and three pets too.

So shennanigans it is - erm !think Finlay and Biggs should meet JG both as mad as a box of frogs although Biggs stops at every mirror he sees - sits and stares!!! He always watches me feed the fish - licks the tank then sits on mat in kitchen waiting for his treat! Sitting looking at me now cos it dentistick time! Will clout the mouse out of my hand any minute!!!

Bit worried about the old weather for the week-end - do I need to nick Mr B's tank? Nah - don't think so!!! Will nick big brolly tho - for some of us !!!

    Beez xx

back to spooks - back in a bit xx

Wonderful Billie, a joy to watch. Even Mr Deevs, normally in bed just after 9, made it to 90 minutes. He's happy too - The Hammers did the do agin the Villa boys!

I really don't know where I'd be without football in my life. I am my daddies daughter!
