Morning, princes and princesses, kings and queens of the blog, how are you today ?

Chris Evans | 09:18 UK time, Friday, 6 November 2009

Faced with Sting's new album on Sky News, he is currently saying he doesn't like Rudolph or Jingle Bells - going off him at a rate of knots - though I have to say his new beard is pretty impressive.

Folded his arms when asked about anything other than his new record, he should know better than that by now.

Will bear all this in mind when appearing on The One Show tonight. Will be hosting the end of radio show from the back of a motorbike en route to TV Centre, so I can "hopefully" get there in time for the start at seven. Should be interesting.

Tune in to one or the other to see what happens - or both for the full story. Right, off to practice not folding my arms, when asked about anything but the book.

X.

P.S. Just found out that there will be fifteen Miss World contestants on the show, better practice crossing everything.

    Morning you lot!

Propa - we thought Sting was a tad in danger of disappearing up his own derriere on The One Show the other night too. Seems that unless it's 14th Century Chanting Monks or something penned by Henry VIII our Sting just ain't listening to it! Seems to have forgotten he's Gordon the ex-school teacher from Newcastle. Shame.

CLP - so you're on The One Show tonight eh?!? I will be unpacking in my Liddypool hotel room when that's on, so I guess it'll be an 8pm or thereafter dinner.

And as for the motorbike ride - hold on tight, we don't want any accidents!

I'm leaving here at half 12 to head oooop norf. Been up since 5 - packing for 1 night is hard enough, but for 3 nights .... and in the winter .... I need my own personal Sherpa to accompany me for the duration for the journey!

    Back in a bit.

    Morning peeps!
Playing hookey today. Decided this morning to have a day's holiday so have walked the dog, cleaned the kitchen and am now off into town and the supermarket.

Was supposed to be going to the theatre tonight to 'an evening with Colin Dexter' - he of Morse fame, but it has been cancelled because he is ill.
It means I will have a chillin evening at home instead, getting ready for tomorrow's shenanigans!

Can't wait to see everyone. Safe journey to those travelling a distance - Deev, the 'north of the border' contingent, Debs etc.

    See you soon,

    Crumpy xx :o)

    Morning All,

I had it half right when the CMM asked last night how you were going to manage both shows.
I guessed the bike bit - not the show bit. Lots of luck!!!!

Hope you are all well - safe journey to all of those going up to Liverpool x

Bingo - we had a near miss yesterday - I was parked outside R2 early afternoon as I was looking at a job across the road.
    Saw Tel coming out looking....ummmm....refreshed!
Also saw Ben Elton - looking miserable....used to love him, even went to see Popcorn at the theatre the night I proposed to the CMM.
    Not so keen nowadays.

I also wondered how you were going to do both shows, Christoph, now I know and as it's a one hour show tonight, will have to record Corrie, and that's only cos you're on! As for Sting, can't abide the bloke or his wife!

Safe and happy journeys to those off to Liverpool,I'm sure there will be lots of laughter and imbibing - enjoy!

Weather update, it's foggy up here in Manchester, so be careful on the roads those who are travelling - good news however is that it's finally stopped raining - at least for this morning!

I am going to have to listen and watch then this evening, cos doing a radio show from a bike has got to be very difficult!

Scoobs, I have the same issue, but MC told me there was lots of parking, hope she's right! I've never been there to stop, only driven by.

CLP - Blimey yer buzy lately..... doing all the tv shows!!!
Forgeet the Miss World's.... fellow capricorn good looker Chrisitne Beakly does it for me - whatta babe.... and dark eyes!!!!!!
CLP.... if yer wanter pull the World babes.... follow Sting's lead... grow a beard... they're suddenly in!!!!!
Az for the arm crossing - a agree bad body language.... unlike the World babes if they're in bikinis.... A GOOD gauge of body language!!!!!!!
Talkin' of TV terneet.... DON'T miss Jools 'olland... Foo Fighters, Jay-Zed & INDEEEED Sting!!!!! Should be a good one!!!!!! WILL be a good one.... az will The ONE Show be a good 'one' too terneet!!!!!

    LIVERPOOL INFO/ GUIDE -

Ok ere's the quick Bingo Star guide ter Liverpool for all who are coming ter the blog meet >>>>>

Firstly for all who are coming check out the eccentric Super-Lamb-Bananas dotted all over the city!!!!
They are small bear like statues all painted differently scattered all over the city... Try spotting az many az yer can!!!!
The first two can be seen on the south side platform at Runcorn station for any who are coming by Virgin trains from the south!!!
Check out these links for more info >>>

The nice thing about the city centre - it's noot too big so everything iz within reasonable walking distance!!! Yer can more or less walk from one side ter the other in only 15 ter 20 mins!!!!!!

When in Liverpool at Lime Street main station there's a life size statue of Ken Dodd.
Then opposite the station cross over Lime Street and there's the grand part of Liverpool and one of my favourite areas - St Georges 'all and ter the right of it The Walker Art Gallery, the main library and down the cobbled 'ill next ter the Library the free city museum - well worth a visit!!! Goot abitta eveything from Ringo Star's drum kit when a waz last there ter space rockets!!!!
Ter the left of St George's 'all iz the vast shopping area!!!
Check it out form the original main precinct ter the very new Liverpool One area which includes a cinema, bars, restaurants and of course all the main famous 'igh street names... all worth just a walk aroound!!!!!
The far end of Liverpool One links the city ter the Albert Dock and down ter The River Mersey!!!!
Once in the Albert Dock.... it's basically a square!!!!
In fact a think it would ave been called Albert Square if they 'ad noot ave filled it with water!!!!
Often wonder why anoother Albert Square isn't a dock aka Eastenders az there's enough moisture around there what with all the tears!!!!!
Any Albert Dock iz square so be walked wreet arooound. There's trendy bars, restaurants, museums, Tate Gallery and various tourist sights all aroound the dock!!!
Next ter it iz the new Echo Arena the main stadium in the ciy where all the BIG gigs are 'eld and some nice new pubs/ 'otels next to it!!!!
Standing by the Albert Dock iz Liverpool One again in front and yer can either walk straight up th right side of it which will take yer ter an area near Bold Street where there's some very nice bars and one voted the best in the UK in 2008 - The Alma De Cuba in an old chapel - well worth checking it out!!!
Or looking ter the left from the Albert Dock iz the main waterfront and the Liver Buildings - again a nice walk aroound there but is the colestd and windiest part of the city!!!!
The Mersey Ferries iz a must whatever the weather!!!!
They depart from wreet in front of the Liver Buildings and yer can do a cruise that takes yer from Liverpool over ter Secombe then ter Woodside and back ter Liverpool!!!!
Well worth it ter see abit of the Wirral aka the posh side of the Mersey although the ferry goes near the noot posh part of the posh side of the Mersey!!!!
And ter loook back & see the famous Liverpool waterfront from the other sdie of the River!!!!!
Even if it's cold or wet the ferry 'as a bar/ cafe and warm indoor bit... and it doesn't get too rough even when the weather iz rough!!!!
Back from the Liver Buildings walk straight inter the city and Mathew Street iz the music/ bar area and the 'ome ter The Cavern!!!! A must iz check out the Cavern!!!!
Slightly ter the right & slightly out of the centre of the city iz Duke street and near the Philamonic 'all and the two cathedrals!!!! A nice area and some great bars/ restaurants!!!!
Another recommended ter do iz visit the Anglican Cathedral.... it's goot the 'ighest cathedral interior roof in Europe and yer can get the lift most of the way up and go wreet ontop of the roof of the tower for a great view of the city, across Wirral ter Wales. Plus yer can see Manchester and Blackpool on a clear dee!!!!!

A know a will ave left loads out, but ter do the city in just a weekend iz impossible... but the bits ave put above a strongly recommend checking out if only in Liverpool for a weekend!!!!

    Chow!

  • Comment number 24.

Ohhhh nearly goot the #22 by chance!!!!!

Whatta good omen that would ave been.... but #23... it iz nice too!!!!!!

'ope all ave a nice weekend.... a now, sorry know, all in liverpool will!!!!

    Morning all :-)

May be back in t'office next week, so it'll probably be back to sneaky blog reads while no-one is looking...

Should be fun broadcasting on the back of a bike - if the traffic is bad, maybe you could liven things up by getting requests from people in the back of minicabs :-)

Adrian Chiles - top bloke. We saw him in a local pub a few months ago - won't say where as I wouldn't want a load of groupies (would they be classed as `chillis'?) bothering him over a quiet pint - and he was kind enough to have a photo taken with my girlfriend, who'd recently lost her job (she has a new job now, so if you could tell him that some girl he met in some pub at some point in time has a new job, I'm sure he'll understand!)

Shame you can't get Sting on the One Show again tonight - Adrian could ask him about his record again, then while he answers, everyone else could fold their arms....

Have a good Friday, one and all and safe travels (particularly when there's motorcycles involved....)

    Cheers!

  • Comment number 26.

Mr Ripley - Yes a most nice area of London a find Oxford Street!!!!! The energy..... the vibrance.... ther passion!!!!!

MsScoobyCat - Parking... like any city it's tricky... trying ter think where ter park mesen or get the train!!!!
Could easily park near Runcorn station and get the train in!!!!
But if in the city avoid the Liverpool One car park... the prices are a mad rip off!!!!!!!
There's multi storey car parks near Lime street that aren't too expensive & near the Albert Dock there's loads of parking scattered arooound!!!!!
There's car parks wreet in the Albert dock area but they get busy and a think abit pricey ter be there for long!!!!
    'ope this 'elps!!!!!

    Chow!

  • Comment number 27.

    Bingo

Will text you when I'm on the train. Lady Boss not in the best humour and I'm outta here at half twelve. Typing I can get away with (she thinks its work!) but texting ... another matter!!

But basically -yes to all of the above if we can fit it all in on Sunday!

Let's make Fridays even better than normal and annoy Sting(or Stink as my dearly beloved calls him) and play a good old Xmas song for ARF.

    What about Jingle Bell Rock?

    Ha ha ha!

  • Comment number 31.

Hiya Chris, really looking forward to hearing you finish the show from the back of a bike! And I'll be sure to watch the One Show, though I don't think Adrian and Christine spend enough time talking to their guests. There's too many different articles in the show, and it always ends up that the guest gets just a few minutes of talking time. Well, that's how it seems to me!

Watch yourself with the Miss World lovelies! Mind you, I can't imagine any of them matching up to Tash!

All very exciting about the Liverpool Meet. Thanks to all the bloggers who have sent their good wishes to those of us lucky enough to make the trip. To everyone travelling today and tomorrow - have a safe journey, and I'll see you soon!

Bingo: thanks for all the tips - you know your stuff by the sound of it!

Can I just say to Propa (from the previous blog) well done to your husband - no wonder you are proud of him.

Dreamer: sorry you can't make the Meet - hope we get to see you soon. I read what you said about your daughter, and it sounds like you both have a really close relationship, which is lovely. There will be some changes afoot, though, when that magic age of 16 is reached, so be prepared! I have been so lucky with my daughter - she's now 18 and is an absolute gem. We did have some spectacular tantrums when she was about 14 - usually from me - but we got through it and now our relationship is rock solid. xx

Tracey: welcome to the blog. Your ARF suggestion is terrific - I love that song! However, I hope you don't mind, I would still like Tigg's ARF to be played.

Sorry, this is a long one!

Enjoyed a lovely girls evening with my best pal last night, went to the forework display at Glasgow Green, armed with a flask of Baileys hot chocolate to keep us warm!

Sounds like there'll be a good turnout at the meet in Liverpool... wish I could be back in my home city with you, but I have no holidays left this year and have to work over the weekend. Rips, I've been to see Ben Elton doing stand up a couple of times, once early on, which I preferred to the later stuff. Second time was in Belfast, where he made the colossal mistake of starting of with comments about the troubles. The silence was deafening and he soon got the hint.

Scoobs #13 - parking. Yeeees, there's a thought... See you tomorrow!!

Nic, hope you're feeling better soon (((hugs)))

Mary, are you the designated driver? Do you know if our hotel has parking? Guess I ought to check eh ;-)

Boleyn, I think Deev said there's 16 of us, but not sure if that's just for the meal tomorrow night. I think there are others popping in and out through the day/evening. Will you be there??

    AF xx

Good lord Flower, a weekend pass? 'Fraid not. Am on patrol to make sure Boleynteen the Younger, and her mate who's staying for the weekend, don't give me the slip. We are going through a truly exhausting "phase" at the moment. I am developing incisive powers of deduction Agatha Christie would envy and, having been a teenager meself I know all the tricks, in fact thankfully there's plenty she hasn't discovered yet.

Anyway, sing a song for me. Is Lovely Hazel still going? Must drop her a line.

AF - Yes we have residents parking.....phew!

Sting was DAF on the One Show. But then I never really liked the Police. My mate did A LOT, so familiarity breeded contempt unfortunately. There's also all that stuff about the weird holidays that him and Trudy (allegedly) hold at their big house for invitees only. But that's probably not for here.

Ah, Boly, am also thinking that I should email you too...but I haven't...but I have been thinking about you...hope that counts for sunnink. I'm to the 'pool termorrer, and sharing a room with Alright Flower...which having only just spoken to her for the first time today...should be a right larf! Shame you can't be there too...I'll do a short chorus of Fairy across the Mersey...named for Paul O'Grady. Good luck wiz de leetle grey cells etc.

Chris, you were FAB on the One Show. Didn't manage to spot the gawjus Tash though.

    see you at the Dock

    Brothers & Sisters

I have crossed from the dark side.

    Well, mostly.

Short but sweet as Autumnwatch and a bunch of loud tunes are waiting. Telly then tunes, not at the same time. That wouldn't work. Much.

Have a terrific weekend. Love to all who are pitching up in Liverpool. I would have loved to come, but the Italian wedding beckons, and peace to everyone else, whatever you are doing.
