Le Weekend Est Ici Mais Premier Le Dejeuner

Chris Evans | 06:16 UK time, Friday, 9 April 2010

Today, three pals and myself are meeting up for soup and a sandwich at lunchtime. They are three top bods - the best of the best and I'm very much looking forward to it.

One is an artist, one is a scientist, one is an actor and I, as you know, am a humble DJ.

I once heard a story about how we came to know the weight of the earth. The tale goes that Sir Christopher Wren was having dinner with Sir Isaac Newton, and they had a wager about who could come up with the answer first. I believe Newton won the bet and the world became a little wiser about the planet we inhabit.

I'm now wondering what we four might discover as a result of our bite to eat. . .

Yours ever optimistically,

CLP

Ah bon matin Christophe mon petit oiseau plus tot.

By the crin. That sounds like a laff. Last time I did the aul Brainstormin' lunch wit Prof. Mad Maggie, Damian, Specialist Subject The Ruddy Obvious, Baz the Conservationist an' Craig the Lingerie Expert, we came up wit the amazin' fact that in Psychology, the P is silent (as in bath), that yous can't make lasagne wit custard powder, an' an excellent first draft for Damian's Left-Handed ironin' Board.

Good luck wit that, my friend.

    Aaaarrrgggghhh!

Just spent ages typing a blooming post on the last blog using one finger and a mobile and only go and find that you've started a new blog! Where's the New Blog Squad when you want them?

    Morning Chris. Morning Clodagh.

Oooo Christoff I was just about to post that quote pertainin' to the late Malcolm McClaren, "It's better to be an artistic failure than a benign success", spooky.

RIP Malcolm McClaren. I wouldn't want to be Saint Peter without the earplugs this mornin'.

    Bonjour Monsieur Le Lambie Pie!

You was robbed indeed, think your instructor was taking it all a little seriously!

Coldagh, Now we know the real power behind the throne!

Pip, I read your post and agree with it all! My boys are 13 and 11 so I end up arranging something or the 11yr old to do and rushing home to "rescue" the 13 yr old from being left all alone and lonely only to find he's gone out with his mates!

    Should I worry?

The boys have just discovered you can weigh your pet on the Wii fit.

AS we don't have a pet, they have created an imaginary dog called Fred.

He is brown with a patch on his head and, coincidently, weighs exactly the same as a big blue vase in the corner of my room!

Isn't it time they went back to school?

Have a good day all ,isn't it nice to be Friday again .

    Hiya everyone

Firstly thank you to everyone for your kind thoughts - I still don't intend to become a regular again but I wanted you to know that your kind wishes are appreciated.

I had some very good news about a friend of mine which I cannot say yet - but does seem to suggest that good things come to those who wait and maybe the gift of patience will be hard fought but well learned by me.

Seza - love the idea of your new family pet Fred, you know you get to take hom on long walks now :-) Our cats are all set up on wiifit and when I go 'running' they come along too.

Baggy - wishing she could enjoy the sun and looking forward to the weekend - even if it might involve car washing and ironing.

    Morning Christoff et al

Definitely one for the wormcatchers this morning!

Perhaps you need to consider some ways of surviving the gymnastics challenge next week! I would have loved to see your and Jonny's faces when Moira announced it, as judging from the reaction in your voices it would have been a picture!

Baggy - nice to have you back, even if only as an occasional contributor, and Bingo glad you had a nice day with the new GF and her daughter, hope it continues to go well, remember steady as she goes!

PiP: I read your post on the previous blog. Bless, you are really in the middle of everything at the moment! I do understand that you are trying to do everything right, but make sure you look after yourself too, ok? And can you please say hi to AF for me - I really miss her not being here!

On another matter, I really tried to enjoy the Masters last night, but I honestly cannot bear the sight of Tiger Woods. I am not judging him - I have no right to do that - but knowing now what sort of man he is, I really can't stand him. Even Peter Allis had an edge to his voice when reporting on TW's shots. Just my opinion, but I thought I would share!

Planning on heading to the shops later as my credit card sould do with a spot of exercise, then a drink later for a pal's birthday. Enjoy your lunch CLP, will wait with interest to see what nuggets of knowledge you come up with.

    Bonjour Christophe!

Enjoy your lunch with your mates.

Feel worse today - wish I was Worzel Gummage and could swap heads!

Pip - I think you have reached a good compromise, gives him that litte bit of independance because he feels he is a "grown up" and lets you have some quality time with him. Nice to end the week with at make over at "B" enjoy - I love them! Say hi to AF from me too. We must be due another Leeds meet?

Chrissie - I've never really been a fan of TW, superb golfer but I've never warmed to him. Love watching the golf especially when Mr Torrance is commentating! My money is on Mr Westwood!

Morning to everyone else, have a good day.

Good Morning Christophe Lambie Pie and all bloggers.

I'm also having soup and a sandwich for lunch but, unlike you and your buddies, I am alone. The thing you might discover as a result of this is that you should'nt have dipped your sarnie in your soup whilst wearing your best attire.

I don't worry about such things as the weight of the earth, only my own weight after eating too many buns (become addicted to them since Easter)

    Enjoy!

A know the likes of Tiger should be ashamed, 'e 'as everything 'e needs & th emost amazing life... a nice wife, kids, nice bunker splash out action with the wrists... But staying in 'otels... and being who 'e iz.... suddenly 'e will ave all these clinger on women trying ter come onter 'im.... and sadly 'e 'as been temptation 'as goot the better than 'im!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

PS Just wanter add - astrology a find interesting... Tiger capricorn az iz 'is caddy 'e 'as been with for 'is whole career aka Steve Williams & 'is wife... perhaps a coincidence or more evidence of there's something in astrology!!!!!!
Or maybe it's is just aload of rubbish!!!!!
Az a thought all caps are nice people... recently treated badly by one mesen... so maybe Tiger isn't nice too!!!!!
In fact az am one too.... maybe actually am noot nice & that's why the blog ploice need ter watch me closely, women don't like me, the railway doesn't want me.... and the 大象传媒 too!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your lunch Christoff. Just on the way to London myself to support the Villans against Chelsea!

Yet again the RT seems to have it in for you. This time it suggests that if you want something more refined that the high-energy gimmickry of Chris Evans you should record Alex Lester on the iPlayer and listen to that instead! And after his sterling work filling in for Evans a few weeks ago Richard Allinson has gone back to the overnight graveyard but that's not a problem online! As promised I have fired off a missive to RT. (BTW Thank you B-s Mum for saying that Auntie Clodagh was with me before she was modded! I am now of course burning with curiosity to know what she said that upset the mods!) Have a great weekend everybody and let's hope us Villa fans have an especially great weekend (obviously that 7-1 defeat by Chelsea a couple of weeks ago was just to lull them into a false sense of security, cunning plan huh? xx

    Afternoon All,

Chris - Can you find out why Germans are so good at taking penalties please? We may well need to know this come the World Cup. Talking of which Rozzer, I heard a great quip when watching Chasetown (the mighty Scholars) last week by a Villa fan - he said his wife had shouted at him at 8 o'clock on sunday morning, saying, "it's 8", to which he replied "Oh no, have they scotred again"! Anyway, hope you beat Chelsea!

okay - because I am sat at my desk and drowing under work and phone calls I am going to open a vertuial pub for this afternoon only - I am the buxom barlady and most drinks and light snacks are available to order.

The pub outsides is all green with some benches and a gentle slope down to the river. There is a childrens play area and a darts board in the main lounge.

    So whos with me?

Picures of pimms and apple vodka surprise are already meade up ready to be tasted.

Thank goodness its Friday - for a 4 day week it sure has been a long 'un!

Sun is shining in Cambridgeshire - long may it continue! Fingers crossed for a good weekend!

Had a mixed say - sold my car which is good but insurance claim is being a pain - the other driver denying responsibility after going into the side of me!

Baggy - I'll have a glass of your finest champagne please. Mmmmmm - can taste the bubbles :)

MTF - your area sound heaven - bit different to my city dwelling! All I seem to see and hear are the geese flying overhead!

Bingo - take it one step at a time with girlfriend and enjoy!

Rosie - hope the credit card enjoyed its workout!

Golf - please, please don't let Tiger win! Am not bothered by his private life I just think he comes across as a bit too arrogant and childish on the course in my opinion!

Think I may hit the driving range over the weekend and see if I can give him a run for his money!

I was just about to head out to the bum slapping supermarket to do some food shopping when I realised that when I stripped my bed and put the sheets in the washing machine I also put my mobile phone in there!! The sim card survived ok but the handset is drying out at the moment. Anyhow I used that as an excuse to go adn buy myself a new phone, not an iphone as alas they are out of my price range, but something similar .Am still getting to grips with a touch screen phone but I'm sure I'll get used to it!

Hi CSN - lovely to hear from you with an update. I'm glad they are keeping her in to make sure all ok this time. I was wondering how old Emma's big brother is? What does he make of it eh? Hope all well with your other daughter too xx

Really flagging and splitting headache - what did you put with that vodka Baggy?

    Susan xx

  • Comment number 70.

Hey Baggy whatever it was I have discovered that having a glass of rose helps!! Waited until 6.00pm naturally before starting FNWC

Cheers everyone xx seemed to have killed the blog earlier!

CSN Good to hear daughter coming on well. Bet you will be frazzled looking after a 2 year old wee one.

Sus - hair of the dog?

Enjoy your peace while it lasts Seza

    Hi folks

Well I managed to go to the dentist on my own this morning, but am now absolutely petrified at the amount of work that needs to be done, and have also been referred to the hospital for some of it :(

Have warned Mr JG that he will need to come with me next time... April 30th is the next appt at the dentist, and then wait for a date to come through for the rest.

CSN, thanks for the update, hope your daughter can soon be home.

Rosie, Mr JG got caught in a downpour with his work mobile in his pocket, and that never worked again, so getting a new one was probably a good move!

Hi Susan, I might disappear, as my dippy SIL is trying to arrange to pick up a chest of drawers from us, but sounded surprised when I said I couldn't get them down the stairs! Those that know me will know full well I have enough trouble getting myself downstairs carrying nowt, let alone that!

So I'm expecting a phone call...but have poured a glass of wine to keep you company!

Cheers JG sounds like you need it x

    Hiya

JG, Well done for going today and hope you get on ok with your other visits.

Beez, peace didn't last long! Never mind all fed now so I can chill out for a while until I go meet my friends for a drink and a chat!

Is still lovely here so expect the boys might go back out to play for a while

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 76.

Actually, I may need more than the one Susan! Eeek!

Beez, pick up a takeaway on the way home, hope it's not too far?

Seza, I loved your story about the imaginary dog this morning, I cannot imagine getting Finlay to stand on a Wii-ft board for long enough to weigh him!

I think my future visits are going to involve a sad tale of woe, but I have a holiday to enjoy before I start worrying about them!

    JG x

  • Comment number 78.

Holiday JG - where are you off to this time?

  • Comment number 79.

We're going to the Lake District for a week, a week tomorrow, a small cottage, in a village with one small road in and one small one out it seems, but the good news is that there is a pub next door!

It's weird, but I've never really been to the Lake District, only the fringes of it, so am really looking forward to it!

JG x (who really should start making some food)!

  • Comment number 80.

JG, you have to stand on the board and hold the dog, then out it down and the board works out the difference

As I said, we don't have a dog so "Fred" nearly weighed the same as a chair, a cushion, a cardboard box and boy2!

    Off now. laters!

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 81.

Ooh JG sounds peaceful and and ideal place to chill.

Woof Seza - just so 'Fred' feels included - too much rose` do you think?! x

  • Comment number 82.

Seza, the board would simply tell me to get off, especially with over two stone of wriggly dog as well! Haha!

Actually I'm not sure I can lift him anymore, he is so wriggly!

For goodness sake - didn't realise the whole town was out!! When I got to the cash point the machines were still booting up!!Stood there like a lemon for 15 mins watching dos commands. Was tempted to see if there was an escape key!!!!
Got the dosh (MIL can't see and mizzog doesn't "do" cash machines so I have the cards - and pin no's !!! Barbados anyone?). He will take it there next visit - 1 1/2 hr round trip!

So- at last large red poured. Chicken curry on the bubble.

JG - I did exactly the same as you left for ages then went. Honest - loads to be done but not too bad. The getting there is what gets my nerves hyped up! You will be fine and anyway enjoy your hol. Be interested to know where it is if they take doggies.

Sus - the last time I went out to eat with mizzog was 1890!!!!

Poor Seza - still warm out there - send them out to play - tis still warm (ish) :)

JG - Biggs is used to the scales at the vets now. Drags us through the door and goes straight to them!! Trouble is getting him off so they can turn on and re-set!! Crazy dog!!

    Beez xx

  • Comment number 85.

Enjoy the red now you can have it Beez. Had turkey curry with my rose - quite a good combination surprisingly.

Hoping to persuade my OH to eat out tomorrow as I have a voucher for free bottle of prosecco -other fizz available obviously!

  • Comment number 86.

Go for it Sus. Well in to the red here. You should have gone to Glasgow - the Scottish girls were drinking ros茅 by the carafe - 2 gallon ones...........(only joking)

Must speed up curry in time for Ashes to Ashes.

Hope this doesn't get modded, but...

Mr JG surprised me with it all booked, and then asked me to pay the 拢100 damage waiver!

    Men eh?

    JG x

  • Comment number 88.

Oh, thanks for the reminder Beez, must make sure he's put it on series link!

Update on SIL, not coming at all now, decided to fix the old ones...when I eventually rang her...Mr JG will be relieved, he doesn't particularly like his sister, unless she's in real trouble...

    Hope my tea's nearly ready!

Mon Chere CLP et tous mes blog amis (can't spell in French any more than I can in English!!!)

Sounds like a fantastic lunch meeting/get together. Interesting folk around your table today which would make for brilliant ideas, questions and problem solving stuff... but I suspect there will be no consensus, such a group wouldn't be able to - making it all the more enjoyable. However, I work with academics and I find that they (in the main) lack common sense, and so... even though such conversations are thought provoking and challenging I do find that every day life stuff... like... oh... life... passes them by...

    Other acadamics are available!!!!
