Pooped After A Break !!!

Chris Evans | 10:34 UK time, Monday, 19 July 2010

You can't spend all your energy beans at work, and then go lie down for two weeks when your family finally get you to themselves. That's a no deal situation.

Having said that, I do feel as though my mind has been cleared, which I suppose is as good as a rest. So here's to mind clearing - what say you ?

Here's to the rest of the summer in good old great GB.

Morning CLP.. Most Nice Ter 'ave You Back...

    Bingo Star 'ere...

CLP - A take it yer have been watching The Open over the past 4 days.. me too!!!!!
I thought it was a strange Open... bit boring... no really exciting charges happening yet at the same time there was a lot of exciting things happening!!!!!
Great to see so many Brits well up the leaderboard!!!!
Westwood 2nd... Casey so close to 2nd & coming 3rd!!!!
McIlroy coming home 3rd & Robert Rock tied 7th!!!!

And am glad the public gave Tiger a good welcome... I think it will help restore his confidence & we'll see a back on form Tiger next year!!!!!
Not that he wasn't palying well this weekend... the weather created a lottery on Friday... and like a wrote on the last blog... the greens seemed inconsistant!!!!!!!

  • Comment number 4.

Glad your back missed your happy chat

  • Comment number 5.

It was a shame to see Ian Poulter have an erratic last round with about 8 birdies & a load of bogeys!!!!... A was following his tweets & hoped after making the cut he might have great round on Saturday & get a top 10 finish but.. he too was complaining about he couldn't get his putter to work... again there was something wrong with the way a lot of the holes had been cut in my opinion!!!!!!

Great to see a new winner at The Open & 850k prize money!!!!!

Which got me thinking... if yer come home 3rd and are tied with 3 other players... then the 350k for third surely is divided into 3!!!!!!!
    Which means... 116k each!!!!!!
So surely it would be better to miss yer last putt to come fourth on yer own if there was nobody tied on fourth... and collect the 250k prize money for fourth!!!!!!

Yes all it's got me thinking.... how exactly is the prize money shared/ worked out.... if a was playing a could imagine me having an argument with me caddie up the 18th... "do a miss me putt or not????"

A think time ter rest my mind too CLP!!!!!!

    PS Nice show this morning!!!!!!

    Bye!

  • Comment number 6.

    Morning Chris,

So happy to hear you on the radio this morning. I have missed you so much.

I know exactly what you mean - its like a change is as good as a rest.............even if you were really busy with Tash and Noah I am sure you appreciated the mental break from us!!!

    Have a good day everyone

    Love me x x

  • Comment number 7.

PS Forgot ter say... Since it's been all golf... A thought how appropriate now, if CLP & the blog moderators are kind enough to allow me, to bang on the blog this week me full diary/ story of the great day I had out at Wentworth in May when a watched CLP play in the pro-am!!!!!

I'll put part one on tomorrow!!!!

'ope all have a nice day!!!!!

    Bye!

  • Comment number 8.

CLP. Thank goodness you are back. Havent turned the radio on for the duration in the morning. Cant be doing with the person who "stood" in for you. Dont they have any better replacements available!!

Hope every one is OK. Debs, keep the chards flowing. You will be better in no time.

Pooped ourselves as well - the annual break was taken last week - next break is my stag do in November!!! Oh my . . .

All well here in Norn Irn - we popped over to London last weekend - the heat was incredible - we never see 32degs - ever!

    Happy Monday folks!!

    The-MEGA-New-Bingo-Star

I reckon the three players who tied on third place would have equal shares of the prize money for third, fourth and fifth places whilst the next player would then get the money for sixth place.

As for your predictions, as the bookie said to me, close but no cigar.

  • Comment number 11.

    Hey Chris,
Sooooooo glad you are back! Trouble is this mornin' when my alarm went off I heard Ken Bruce's dulcet tones! OMG thought you had not returned from your jollies - only to realise I had overslept and was MEGA late for work!

*Note to self - remember to set alarm BEFORE you hit the red wine of an evening!

    Afternoon all!

  • Comment number 12.

Barney - At least me predictions were very close & considering over 160 players started the tournament & The Open & golf is one of the most difficult sports to predict!!!!!

Also me prediction of the winning score at -12... the actual winning score was -16 with second at -9... so close there too!!!!!!

    Could easily ave been -4 0r -20!!!!!!

Me next prediction is.... August is going to be a mega scorcer of a month!!!!!!
Loads of hot sun & high temperatures.... yer 'eard it 'ere first!!!!!!

    Bye!

    Hello one and all

I know that feeling I went on holiday and came home then needed a holiday to get over my holiday lol.

  • Comment number 18.

G'day gang, and WELCOME BACK CLP!

Chris, thanks for playing Hide Your Love Away this morning - one of my fave Beatles toons. I was singing along whilst making Nic's sarnies, I was!

I know what you mean about needing a break to get over a break - I've just had a weekend and I'm shattered today. Totally shattered. We had a late one Saturday night (Sunday morning!) with some interruptions between head hitting pillow and "proper" waking up time (a poorly wee man needing a daddy cuddle ...... at 4.53am, 6.25 am, 7.45 am ......) and didn't do much at all yesterday but today I feel cream crackered. And we've got a charity thing on after work today which I've sort of been roped in to helping with, so no gym and no 5pm home time for me. Booooooooo, but all in a good cause.

DtM - I was thinking about you this morning and thought about finding your email addy and dropping you a line. Glad to hear all is ok with you. Bet you can't wait for your stag do in November!

Deb - has anyone drawn over your plaster yet? Follow Thunder's advice re the chards and you;ll be back on both feet in no time!

Joran - oooops! Hope you weren't in too much trouble being mega late for work.

Maddy - I'm sure GirlPower will prevail in Blogland later.

As for the golf, no comment. Bores me to tears. Just can't be done with it.

MotoGP on the other hand .... go Rossi!!

    Muchos amore

I am exhausted too, had a week off in June in the van and not going away again until August in the van again. All for the sake of two weeks in Tenerife over christmas and new year which I cannnot wait for, another 5 months till my main holiday this year.

Had a wonderful weekend at a friends farm which meant late too bed early to rise so will spend this week having early nights and drinking plenty of water.

Evening peeps, and welcome back Christoph xx

Noticed that Ms Kennedy didn't make any kind of handover to you this morning when she has spent two weeks positively fawning over GN - but then you didn't thank her for her show, as you politely used to do - so I guess you've given up, don't blame you.

Must admit I did enjoy Graham's toast with cheese slot. It was scary how many of the truly horrible songs I was word perfect on!!

Also enjoying Dale in the afternoon - but that's probably because I cannot abide Steve smarmy Wright. Did anyone hear Sheryl Crow's version of I Want You Back, by Michael Jackson? It was brilliant. Listen again if you can, it was about 4.50pm

Debs - take it easy in that wheelchair - although I see you more as Brian Potter type than Andy!

Deevs - hope the good cause goes well tonight - don't spend too much!

Evening all, and welcome back CLP! Know what you mean about coming back to work for a rest after a holiday. But I do think that recharging the batteries mentally is just as important (if not more so) than physically.

Was on holiday myself last week, though not away anywhere as my Mum visited, just a couple of days out in Glasgow and Stirling and visiting family in Dumbarton. We've had c****y weather last week and I'm really wanting some sun, but alas no more holibobs from work till September for me.

In other news I got bedside cabinets this afternoon for my new bedroom, so finally I have a knicker drawer!!

    Hope you're all ok

Evening all, soooo glad you're back Christoff. As the old adage goes, you always need a holiday to get over the one you've just had!

BTW, excellent lunch yesterday at the M, the pudding was absolutely to die for x

Crumpy, I am also enjoying Dale in the afternoon, this must be the third week, can we hope for a permanent fixture?!

Bingo, apologies, I am having to skip your posts for the first time ever, nothing personal, it's just I can't stand golf!! It's just not right to all like the same things though, is it?

Sorry haven't commented on much else cos I haven't been around. I'll need a fortnight to catch up!

    Good evening everyone

So good to have you back this morning CLP :-)

Not had time to get on here much over the last few weeks so hope everyone's well and those that aren't get back on their feet soon!

I've spent my last day of freedom before the kids break up doing house work and making the phone calls that I've been putting off, feeling very stressed tonight :-(

Off to eat my tea and then have a bowl of chocolate ice cream :-)

    Love to everyone MCM xx

Thanks for the good weather wishes for both Sat and Sunday. Sunday's worked so well (after a very unpromising looking start) that I'm now sporting what is commonly known as the "Rudolph look".

MCM: you've got me drooling now with the mention of ice cream, might have to go have a look in the freezer, I know I've seen some in there... on the other hand, I was naughty and didn't go for my weekly walk yesterday, so maybe I should abstain.

    Evening all,

Just popping in to say welcome back to Chris and the team, loved what I caught of the show this morning.

Meself, am counting down to six weeks off, plus spent all this arvo sitting in the sunshine as the Year 6s I was supposed to be teaching were having sports day. I did clap hard though.

Off to wedding Saturday (364 days since ours last year) then flying to Tuscany on Tuesday with Boleynman (sans teenagers) for 9 days!

    I'll shut up now.

    Good morning blogrades!

Deb, thank you for the Lou and Andy imagery .... I hope you have a lovely time at the wedding, although your high kicks to New York New York will obviously have to wait for another occasion!

And thanks for all of the good wishes on the charity do thingyflip. I left at half seven as I had a lovely man to cook tea for, but there were still people arriving when I left (it was due to finish at 9pm). I treated myself to a couple of bits: a cinamon candle, some jasmine joss sticks, 2 pairs of hand-made ear-rings and a hangbag to die for (altho not sure if Nic was as keen as me to be honest....). All in a good cause, and all saved out of my pocket money!

The really, really exciting news from yesterday afternoon is that I won a competition! A local photographer was offering a £100 voucher against a photoshoot if you could tell her in 150 words why you deserve to win. So I did, and I did! I am so excited! She was at the bash last night and we had a chat about things so now I'm even more excited!!!

    Wooooo Hooooo!!

Right, time to think about getting ready for W O R K. I have to office to myself this morning so may be able to dip in and out a bit more than the last few days.

    Adios amigos. For now!

Nothing wild or exciting to report from Kent. It's very cloudy today but a humid as can be. I've got all the windows open in my office a fan on and the door open. I did a deal with the people in the office in the opposite corridor and said if we both left our doors open we might get a breeze blowing through and it does seem to be working - hooray.

MC, How was your trip to the Garden of England, whereabouts in Kent were you?
