The Show's Over...Or Is It?

Chris Evans | 12:44 UK time, Friday, 2 July 2010

No - it's only just begun !!!

As I write this, we are a day and a half into our four day Drive, Dine And Disco extravaganza in aid of Children In Need. We are on the road again to Haynes Motor Museum...and we have just driven over the most extraordinary ridge where the road literally disappeared from beneath us, and all we could see was sky. It was all very final scene Thelma And Louise.

Thruxton and The Stig this afternoon, and then a slap up meal at The Cottage Inn with an overnight in Berkshire before we hit the golf, the food, The Feeling and Goodwood over the weekend.

We can't thank all the people and companies who have helped us put this together enough. It simply would not be possible without them. [Click here to see our roll call of thank you's]

Onwards.

    Chris,

Sounds like you are all having a great time, which certainly came across on the show. Jealous but nice to hear it!

    Nadal to win Wimbledon...

    Nic

  • Comment number 4.

CLP - I'm jealous too. I know that you can't run a draw for the experience but can't you have a real competition for a place? Many of us ordinary peeps just do not have the sort of money that the bidding gets to for a drive.

Nic - that's rather un-british of you isn't it? Come on Andy!!!

    Hey Christoff et al

What a fantastic couple of shows, watched live yesterday, and enjoyed every minute. I applaud all the people involved in organising this event, it must have been a headache at times, but great to see it all come to fruition.

Going to be bold here and will probably be shot down in flames, but whilst Moira does a good job (hope you feel better soon btw) I personally happen to prefer ‘Deadly’ reading the news and being part of the team. Have so loved him on the last two shows, so can you please bring him on board?

Enjoy your well deserved holiday and see you in two weeks, missed who you said was keeping your seat warm!

Been out of the blog loop of late although have been lurking, a bit! Been watching the tennis which has been a welcome distraction from sore/stiff mouth after having an extraction, which included 6 injections, because the b****y anaesthetic wouldn’t take.

Far too many posts to comment on, sending hugs to those who need them xx. Still think of Beez loads. Her posts are so missed.

    Pen xx

Pee ess, mtd, Chris mentioned on today’s show that they are hoping to do something next year for those of us who can’t afford to bid for the big one, so watch this space.

  • Comment number 6.

Thanks Pen - I'm afraid (mho) that it's Graham Norton for the next 2 weeks ;-(. Luckily I only have to listen to the first week of that as I don't have to get up so early the week after next as I will be a lady of leisure for a while.

I tend to agree with you regarding Deadly, I sometimes think that Moira doesn't quite 'get' CLP whereas Deadly seems to fit in the 'family' so to speak.

S'okay Annie - keep it chilling for me. I'm drinking tea at the mo.

And you're all welcome on the Mayo blog any time! You don't have to be a music expert or anything. It's a bit quiet today as I said, but it can be a real laff at times!

But, have just helped him try on his suit for his brother's wedding next weekend, and he looked lovely, very handsome! Apart from the stubble of course....and he needs to trim his beard a bit...

they've had some bad news in that the chief bridesmaid (the brides sister) has been taken ill, thought it was chicken pox, but now she's at A&E, as it seems more serious :(

    Hi all

On my first glass of Merrrloot (I still haven't heard you actually say that Annie although it is attributed to you).

Just about to order the Chinese for dinner (the meal that is not the people...).

Shame about the Scottish person (I know I said he was British earlier but that was before he lost...).

Still feeling strange about leaving work - I'm sure I'll get over it though.

No real plans for the weekend - will be watching the footie tomorrow of course.

    Back later.

  • Comment number 40.

'Lo Mtd, it's very strange isn't it. did the chat your boss had with someone not come to anything?

Am anticipating a busy summer with Mr Seza's job, all good I hope but lots of changes.

It may mean he has to smarten up a bit. He works in maufacturing so has always gone in old t-shirts & scruffy trousers but will probably have to see more customers who will be spending a LOT of money so a proper shirt (more ironing!) and shaving every day (lol)

    xx

    Seza xx

  • Comment number 41.

well - i am on my work laptop and have email open - sorry to disapoint.

  • Comment number 42.

We'll let you off Baggy but keep up the vodka!!

Mortgage is boring but another step closer to moving so will go with a smile (or fixed grin!)

Just watching the thing sbout building a nuclear submarine! That is one airfix kit!!

And there is a young lady on there who is training as an electrician, they should be sending her around to all the schools in the country - she's an inspiration!

    xx

  • Comment number 43.

Nothing yet Seza - I know that the potential job is in Compliance which, to be honest, I am not really interested in (although I could do it standing on my head). The department manager, who was supposed to be talking to me about it hasn't done so yet....

It will be the people that I miss the most, walking round the office - saying hello and stopping to chat occasionally, knowing them and them knowing me..... I'm getting maudling now so I'll stop.

Come on Ghana - the last African team in the world cup and it looks like they are playing quite well.

  • Comment number 48.

    Hi all

I'm fed and watered and ready to par-teeee!! (Okay, I may have already started on the sauvignon blanc)

My big news of the day was that I got a tweet from the one and only Mr M! I was at work at the time so had to play it down, but I managed a private "squee"! Oh, how I love that man.....

MTD - see your job situation as an opportunity. There's a whole world out there, you just never know what's around the corner. Maybe it's a chance for a complete change of direction.

JG - that's not good news about the chief bridesmaid. When I got married - mumblemumble years ago - I had two adult bridesmaids and a 3 year old, the daughter of some good friends. Two days before the wedding the little girl fell over with a glass of water in her hand, and had to have stitches in her arm. Luckily you can't see the bandage in our wedding photos...

Deevs - a man cooking curry! How perfect is your life! Love you too.

Evenin' Seza, hello busy Billie :)

JG: I usually have busy weekends too (although they rarely start on Wednesdays!), but currently this one is looking fairly open (nothing set in stone for it which makes a jolly nice change), so I'll either do nowt (if you ignore reading a book, posting here and sleeping) and curse as I've lazed the weekend away and not done x,y or z. Or... I'll end up doing loads of jobs and while feeling good for ticking off lots of must do's I'll be more knackered come Monday. Perhaps I should aim for a balance between the two somehow!

Hope everyone has a lovely well balanced weekend! Relaxing as required and with a few jobs ticked off to aid the good feelings.

Seza, was thinking of wearing one I wore to my cousin's wedding about 5 years ago, but saw a bunch of ladies at a wedding today, and felt it would be dated and stuffy...it's a top and matching skirt, and quite similar to the stuff I've seen in the shops!

Now I'm no spring chicken, or petite, but just feel I should get something more with the times I suppose, or at least look...which I haven't even done yet!

I know how she feels actually, it isn't nice to be ignored; it's why I haven't made much of an effort the last couple of days. We've not been next door, we've been on t'other side and had a lovely chat - thank you Deebee.

Anyhoo, I wish you all a super weekend. Looks like the weather is going to hold and as the grass fairy came and cut and edged the grass at the front of the house midweek, I'll have an extra hour or two for myself this weekend. I do think that they will be spent entertaining the youngestGB which will be a complete pleasure. We'll take his ball and my book to the park and we'll both be happy :)

    Rightio, I'm out of here.

    Night night and sweet dreams.

Ps. If this is the last blog 'til CLP gets back from his hols, I probably won't be around much, especially during working hours as my pc at work can't cope when the blog gets too long. In which case, I hope life continues to treat the happy peeps well and improves for the sad / stressed peeps. Toodle-oo for noo.

Night DB, and Goodnight you all! I need some sleep! Mr JG and Finlay have already gone up!

I don't want to spend another night on the sofa, especially as he looked so gorgeous in his wedding attire ;)

No-one is ignored on here ( ok, ok, yes I might be now and again, probably cos I deserve to be) but c'mon girls, I think the idea is to post on here and if you get a reply, all well and good but if not, then what ho, at least you have had your say!

I am going home tomorrow, feeling very starstruck.

Having seen what Minnie goes shopping in, all I can say is ...

The Lady deserves it, after all, look what she has given us!

    Off to do some packing.

Gosh, really quiet here today isn't it!!

Take it that means everyone's out doing nice things on this beautiful day

I've done the good for me thing and been to Jazzercise - it was our class birthday so we had ice cream, not sure that helped!

Lunch and the mortgage man next then no more boring stuff today!!

Boy2 wants to make a "Victorian Sponge" so i might get to help with that!

    Enjoy this day!

    Seza xx

ps hope you haven't all sneaked off to Jonny's Pub Quiz without me ;-)

Almost hate to disturb the peace here...

Lovely day here too Seza, hopefully I haven't jinxed it by putting the washing out! I'm liking the sound of Victorian Sponge, as long as it's freshly made it won't have gone off!

Working on achieving a balanced weekend where chores are done but I still get to relax. So, having done the washing, pegged it out and had a trip into town to stock up on anti-hayfever stuff etc and with the washing up drying on the rack and the vacuuming of downstairs done, I now fully intend to curl up with a book for an hour or two while keeping half an eye out for dark clouds threatening my washing.

Afternoon all, it is very quiet isn't it...

I've been out trying to get my a/c fixed on my car, but even after regassing it, it's still not working, so I'll have to get someone out to it unfortunately :( It's bound to be expensive as well!

Still I had a nice walk into town whilst they were doing it, and bought loads of summery clothes.

Just setlled down to watch the footie, but can't get into it really, so I might do some gardening instead.

    Hi all

Are we going for a record low number of posts in a day? Ooops, I just increased them.

I don't know who I want to win this game - I suppose Germany because they're European and it would be nice to see Argentina go out.

I have Argentina in the sweepstake at work, so for obvious monetary reasons...

    Come on Argentina!

    Afternoon each

Just back from sunny East Lothian with eldest and his gorgeous 8month old.

Deebee, you got over your cream puff me dear? Sorry, I disappeared to bed at 8.30 last night I was so tired - and only 1 glass of wine, honest. I'm very bad at not replying to people because when I get down to the bottom, I've forgotten what I want to say. I do read all the posts, honest, and am highly entertained by a lot of them.

On the other hand, my waffle is frequently ignored so I might well have a cream puff myself soon.

    Back later peeps.
